Job Summary The Environmental, Safety, and Health Coordinator Principal is responsible for coordinating the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures, and strategic goals within their assigned region, plant, and project scope. They prepare, advise, and assist management on the administration of safety and health (S&H) event prevention policies and procedures, including public safety matters. They are also responsible for coordinating and implementing the safety and health programs within their assigned region, or facility. They work closely with corporate Safety and Health management in the development and implementation of advanced safety and health training programs applicable to their geographic region or technical expertise. Job Description Note: This position is posted at multiple grade levels and offers a range of opportunities for advancement. The minimum qualifications outlined below apply to the Env, Safety, & Health Coordinator Principal level, with increased educational, skill, experience and certification requirements for higher level Environmental, Safety, & Health Coordinator Staff. What You’ll Do: Essential Job Functions & Tasks Instructs, advises, and assists management and personnel to carry out the company's environmental, safety and health programs. Prepares and delivers training and familiarization topics of the company's environmental, safety and health programs to employees Conducts observations and coaching of AEP personnel to ensure the successful implementation of the company's safety and health programs. Provides support during environmental, safety, and health compliance audits and inspections. Coordinates and responds to public inquiries regarding environmental matters. Develops and maintains environmental documents and records for compliance regulations. Advises and assists management in post-event safety and health causal analysis Provides support in the event of a release or discharge of a regulated substance including making any necessary agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing clean-up efforts, and follow-up reports with regulatory agencies. Maintains a good working knowledge of any applicable federal, state, or local rules and regulations pertaining to safety and health. Promotes and enforces the company's safety and health event prevention programs. What We’re Looking For: Education Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or another relevant field. OR Associates degree in a relevant field with six (6) years of experience in power plant or utility field operations. OR High School Diploma/GED with eight (8) years of experience in Environmental, Safety & Health program administration and related field experience. Work Experience In addition to the education requirements listed, must have a minimum of six (6) years of experience in Environmental, Safety and Health program administration, or a minimum of six (6) years of experience power plant or utility field operations. Licenses/Certifications Valid driver’s license is required. Other Requirements Proficient oral and written skills Basic computer skills are required Position involves daily travel with occasional overnight travel Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and independence The qualified candidate will have an advanced understanding of the following programs and concepts: OSHA regulations Environmental requirements for above ground and underground storage tanks Transportation of hazardous materials Spill-prevention control and countermeasures Oil & chemical spill response and management Wastewater, storm water, and drinking water sampling, reporting and controls Air emissions monitoring, control, and reporting Asbestos and PCB management Pollution prevention Federal and state wildlife conservation policies Travel Travel time ranges from 20-40% with some overnight stays required on occasion. Availability Must be available by phone after work hours and weekends, contact frequency is minimal. Environmental, Safety, Health Coordinator Staff Job Summary The Environmental, Safety, & Health Coordinator Staff exhibits the highest level of proficiency and expert knowledge in a specialized technical area that enables the individual to serve as the expert and highest-level resource for the company. They will lead project and development activities related to specific, unique, and/or highly specialized areas to support the AEP generating fleet. The Coordinator Staff will act as the primary resource to perform highly advanced work activities and projects requiring the application of technical knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic manner. They are the key resource in their field of expertise to assist site personnel with any issues. They are also directly responsible for: Coordinating the implementation of environmental compliance programs, permit requirements, and corporate environmental policies, standards, procedures, and strategic goals within their assigned region, plant, and project scope. Preparing, advising, and assisting management on the administration of safety and health (S&H) event prevention policies and procedures, including public safety matters.
