Our Freight Services Division provides locomotive maintenance services to our customers, the country’s largest freight railroads, helping them keep their locomotives running at optimal levels. The mission of the Fleet Innovation & Transformation team is to accelerate fleet transformation by consistently providing compelling solutions and innovative technologies that improve reliability, sustainability, and performance
How will you make a difference?
The Engineering Program Technical Leader will manage locomotive modernization and new product development projects with broad scope and significant impact to the business. The role requires excellent leadership skills to effectively manage Commercial, Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing, and Reliability deliverables. In this role you will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy. The engineering program management focus will be on business-critical programs.

Qualifications/ Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
At least five years of program management and/or manufacturing experience
Desired Characteristics:
North America and International locomotive expertise
Six Sigma and reliability training
Strong electrical/mechanical design and analytical background
Familiarity with manufacturing processes
Ability to drive projects to completion
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to influence cross-functionally, across all organizations within the business
Ability to present to external customers
What will your typical day look like?
Ability to accel in a lean, mission-based team environment while ensuring optimized designs, validation scope, and customer deliverables by hitting schedule, cost, and performance targets
Provide program leadership for a team of engineers focused on product design aspects of the locomotive systems
Knowledge of engineering processes and tools (EDOT, QSW, DOORS, PLM, Reliance, DRS, eDR/Tollgate, Oracle, MSPO)
Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as commercial, proposals, manufacturing, sourcing, services, global engineering, and sub-system engineering teams
Ability to harmonize program schedule with engineering deliverables & milestones
Manage product cost through effective engineering and manufacturing decision making
Effectively manage engineering program budgets including labor and shopwork.
Support service programs, fulfillment, and New Product Introduction (NPI)
Communicate progress to all levels of the organization
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $91000-129800 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
