Description of Work
The Food Service Supervisor I position involves supervisory responsibilities in managing food service operations and ensuring compliance with sanitation standards as outlined by the NC Food Code in a moderate scale food service operation. The role oversees food preparation, procurement and storage of food and supplies, staff training, and record keeping. A key component of the job is supervising and supporting employees through hiring, scheduling and performance evaluation. The supervisor is also responsible for planning and conducting in-service training for staff to maintain quality and safety standards. This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient and sanitary food service in a moderate-scale operation.
Responsibilities Include:
• Supervising and scheduling food service employees.
• Ensuring compliance with the NC Food Code.
• Managing food procurement, inventory, and standardized recipes.

Salary Grade Range: $35,596 - $62,294
Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:
Basic knowledge of the use and adaptability of various pieces of kitchen equipment.
Ability to instruct cooks in proper cooking methods and to direct and supervise kitchen personnel in serving meals and proper sanitation.
Ability to follow prescribed menus and recipes as well as specific oral and written instructions
Ability to evaluate levels of sanitation and food safety and implement corrections when warranted.
Ability to prepare routine reports and to compute food quantities for special diets and/or regular menus.
Work Schedule: 4x10 schedule, rotating weekends, and split days off. The available shift options are 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
