Job Details 0.8 FTE Clinical Geriatrician 0.2 FTE Program Director for Geriatrics Fellowship at Jefferson Abington Hospital Job Description Jefferson Abington seeks a full-time Geriatrics Physician to join it's team as both a clinical practicing Geriatrician , as well as to serve as the Program Director for the Geriatric Fellowship at Jefferson Abington Hospital . The Geriatric Fellowship Program Director provides leadership, direction, and administrative oversight for the ACGME‑accredited Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program. The Program Director is accountable for compliance with all ACGME Common, Institutional, and specialty‑specific Program Requirements and for ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and continuous improvement of the educational program. This role is responsible for curriculum development, faculty and fellow supervision and evaluation, and program accreditation activities. The Program Director collaborates with Jefferson Graduate Medical Education leadership, faculty, and interdisciplinary teams to advance Jefferson Health’s mission of excellence in education, clinical care, research, and service to older adults. Program Leadership and ACGME Compliance Serves as the ACGME‑designated Program Director with authority and responsibility for all components of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program. Ensures ongoing compliance with ACGME Common Program Requirements, Institutional Requirements, and Geriatric Medicine specialty requirements. Prepares for, submits, and responds to ACGME accreditation materials, program updates, citations, and site visits in collaboration with institutional GME leadership. Educational Program Oversight Develops, implements, and maintains a structured educational curriculum that meets ACGME competencies and milestones for Geriatric Medicine. Ensures fellows receive appropriate and balanced clinical experiences across required care settings, including inpatient, outpatient, long‑term care, and interdisciplinary environments. Promotes a learning environment that supports patient safety, quality improvement, professionalism, and ethical clinical practice. Faculty Supervision and Development Recruits, supervises, and evaluates core and participating faculty in accordance with ACGME and institutional requirements. Provides faculty development related to teaching effectiveness, evaluation, feedback, and competency‑based medical education. Leads and facilitates regular faculty meetings and participation in program evaluation and improvement activities. Fellow Recruitment, Evaluation, and Support Oversees fellow recruitment, selection, appointment, onboarding, supervision, and advancement in accordance with ACGME and Jefferson Health policies. Ensures timely, accurate, and effective evaluation of fellows using ACGME milestones, Clinical Competency Committee processes, and documented feedback. Provides mentorship, career guidance, and remediation when necessary to support fellow development and professional success. Program Evaluation and Continuous Improvement Leads the Annual Program Evaluation (APE) process and oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of action plans for program improvement. Utilizes educational, clinical, and quality data to enhance program outcomes and learning effectiveness. Ensures maintenance of accurate, complete, and compliant program records, policies, and documentation. Scholarly Activity and Institutional Collaboration Promotes and oversees fellow and faculty scholarly activity consistent with ACGME requirements. Collaborates with Jefferson Health GME leadership, clinical departments, and interdisciplinary teams to support institutional goals. Represents the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program at institutional, regional, and national levels as appropriate. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required): Demonstrates knowledge of ACGME Common, Institutional, and Geriatric Medicine program requirements, including accreditation, milestones, and program evaluation processes Applies advanced clinical knowledge in Geriatric Medicine to support high‑quality education across inpatient, outpatient, and long‑term care settings. Demonstrates ability to develop and implement curriculum; supervise and evaluate faculty and fellows; and manage recruitment, assessment, and remediation processes Communicates effectively and collaborates with fellows, faculty, and institutional leadership in a professional and respectful manner consistent with Jefferson values. Qualifications: Doctor of Medicine (MD or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Geriatric Medicine Required AND Experience: Minimum of three years of faculty experience in an ACGME accredited Geriatric Medicine Fellowship or related residency program required. Current, unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Board certification in Geriatric Medicine through ABIM or ABFM Demonstrated experience in graduate medical education including teaching, supervision and trainee evaluation required. Prior experience in program leadership or administration strongly preferred. Evidence of ongoing scholarly activity, quality improvement participation or educational innovation consistent with ACGME expectations.
