Overview
We are seeking a Gastrointestinal Technician ( GI Tech), sometimes referred to as a GI Technician or Endoscopy Technician. The GI Tech or Endoscopy Tech support endoscopic procedures and patient care in gastroenterology departments. GI Tech’s will assist physicians during procedures like colonoscopies and endoscopies.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
Assist in preparing patients for endoscopic procedures, such as colonoscopies and endoscopies
Set up, assist and maintain endoscopic equipment (endoscope, light source, video processor, insufflation system, ect.), ensure all tools are sterilized and functional
Monitor and record patient vital signs throughout the endoscopic procedure, promptly notifying the medical team of any significant changes
Ensure sterilization and cleanliness of instruments and procedure rooms following infection control protocols
Provide patients with clear post-procedure care instructions, include activity restrictions, medication guidelines, signs of complications to watch for, and details about necessary follow-up appointments
Work closely with fellow GI Technicians and other staff to coordinate tasks, support efficient GI procedure flow, and uphold a consistent, high standard of patient care throughout the endoscopy department
Qualifications

Education and Work Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
Graduate of a training program or on the job training with a minimum of 2 years experience (GI setting) preferred.
Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
