Description of Work
Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (BMNTC) is currently accepting applications for a Health Care Technician II Lead- 1st shift, R3.
The Health Care Technician II Lead provides leadership and direct patient care in a specialized healthcare setting serving individuals with complex medical and neurological needs. This position leads Health Care Technician staff during assigned shifts, supports daily unit operations, ensures quality and safety standards are met, and serves as a resource to team members. In addition to providing hands-on patient care, the Lead collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to promote a safe, therapeutic, and person-centered environment while supporting the facility's mission of delivering high-quality care.

*A Sign-On Bonus of $2,500.00 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on Budget Approval.

This position requires experience working directly with individuals with Dementia and/or Intellectual Development Disabilities, on-going healthcare needs and issues of aging, or other health related fields.
Experience with staff training and the ability to respond to emergency situations is vital.
The employee must be patient, tactful, cheerful, courteous, and enthusiastic. The ability to relate well with people is required.
A sincere desire to work with the involved population, a willingness to learn, an ability to listen, and an ability to accept supervision and criticism are necessary.
Initiative and flexibility are required in meeting resident's needs.
Physical Requirements: Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
Usual Work Hours: Flexibility is required for education and training purposes and to meet the needs of the facility.
Shift Premiums for 8-Hour Shifts:
Day: 10% weekend shift premium
Evening: 20% shift premium plus an additional 10% weekend shift premium
Night: 20% shift premium plus an additional 10% weekend shift premium
Shift Premiums for 12-Hour Shifts:
Day (7:00 am - 7:30 pm): 10% weekend shift premium
Evenings/ Night (7:00 pm - 7:30 am): 20% shift premium plus an additional 10% weekend shift premium
*ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS To qualify for the Sign-On Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a pro-rated rate.
An employee is NOT eligible for a Sign-On Bonus if:
The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date).
The employee has previously received a Sign-On Bonus from any State agency.
DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
All Sign-On Bonuses are contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.

ABOUT BLACK MOUNTAIN NEURO-MEDICAL TREATMENT CENTER: Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living.
