Heavy Truck Operator Logistics

Location: Geisinger Centralized Logistics & Materials Distribution Center (CLAM) Shift: Days (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Worker Type: Regular Exemption Status: No Job Summary: Operates a weight class 8 straight truck to pick up and deliver pharmaceuticals, supplies, equipment, mail and reports to various Geisinger locations according to assigned schedules or pickups designated by the supervisor. Job Duties: Delivers pharmaceuticals, supplies, equipment, and mail, via a weight class 8 straight truck or cargo van. Loads and unloads vehicles using appropriate means to safely transport costly, perishable, and confidential materials. Obtains appropriate signatures and maintains records and documentation of pick-ups, deliveries, driving time, labor time, mileage, vehicle maintenance, fuel purchases, etc. Responds to emergency requests for unscheduled pick-ups and deliveries by contacting the supervisor to resolve schedule conflicts and adjust priorities. Adheres to infection control procedures, safety standards and traffic rules. Receives incoming shipments and inspects all containers for visible damage. Compares packing list against purchase order, notes discrepancies, notes number of cartons and signs freight bills for acceptance. Maintains daily receiving records; files in appropriate file daily. Records stats daily; compiles and rolls up for monthly report. Contacts buyer if discrepancies are identified. Reports discrepancies and files claims for damages etc., as assigned. Prepares exception reports on any discrepancies received, reports to buyer and files with packing slips; researches discrepancies and documents as applicable. Separates and stages deliveries for departments as assigned. Completes training and certification for use of powered pallet jacks, order pickers, and fork trucks. Performs daily inspection of equipment, including daily vehicle inspection sheets. Corrects any problems before the equipment or vehicle can be operated; places appropriate OUT OF SERVICE tag on the equipment until the problem is corrected. Work is typically performed in a transportation vehicle or office. Requires the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Requires sitting and driving a vehicle for an extended period of time. Hours: F ull time, 40 hours per week, day shift Required Experience: High School Diploma or GED and valid Driver's License DOT Physical Card- Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Two (2) years of related work experience in commercial driving, logistics, transportation, route delivery, warehouse, or supply chain experience. Preferred Experience: Experience operating Class 8 vehicles, straight trucks, box trucks, or similar commercial vehicles.
