They are responsible for the performance of service contracts. They plan, optimise and supervise the usage of resources to ensure that the services are rendered on time, with the prescribed specifications and cost. Their most common duties include: Managing contracts, drawing up budget estimates, planning and establishing the phases of the service, supervising the activities of the sub-contractors, the subordinate staff and the workers, verifying the quality of the work throughout all phases of the service, etc. Required Skills and Competencies Job Summary The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily housekeeping operations within a unionized manufacturing environment to ensure a clean, safe, and compliant facility. This role provides direct leadership to housekeeping employees in accordance with established cleaning standards, safety regulations, and the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) . The Housekeeping Supervisor works closely with management, union representatives, and cross‑functional teams to support efficient manufacturing operations and maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance. Key Responsibilities Housekeeping Operations Supervise and coordinate daily cleaning activities across production areas, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, and common spaces. Ensure housekeeping tasks are completed according to approved schedules, procedures, and quality standards. Monitor cleanliness levels and address deficiencies promptly to support manufacturing operations. Supervision & Union Coordination Provide day‑to‑day supervision of housekeeping employees in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) . Assign tasks, monitor attendance and productivity, and ensure work is performed within defined job classifications and union work rules. Support onboarding and training of new employees in accordance with union guidelines and company policies. Communicate effectively with management and union representatives regarding staffing needs, operational concerns, and work assignments. Escalate performance, attendance, or conduct issues to management and Human Resources as appropriate. Safety, Health & Compliance Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site‑specific procedures. Enforce safe handling, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals and materials. Conduct routine inspections to identify safety hazards, housekeeping deficiencies, or non‑compliance issues. Participate in safety meetings, audits, and emergency preparedness activities. Inventory & Equipment Oversight Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment. Notify management of supply shortages or equipment repair and replacement needs. Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained and safely operated by staff. Computer Systems, Reporting & Documentation Use computerized systems to track cleaning schedules, inspections, attendance, and supply usage. Enter, review, and maintain accurate records in facility management systems or electronic logs. Utilize Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting, communication, and documentation. Prepare basic reports related to housekeeping performance, safety observations, and operational issues for management review. Collaboration & Support Coordinate with production, maintenance, quality, and safety teams to align housekeeping activities with plant operations. Support special cleaning projects, shutdowns, audits, or facility events as required. Other Duties Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility cleanliness, safety, and operational goals. Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional vocational or technical training preferred.
