Iverson Riddle Developmental Center Job Classification Title Psychological Program Director I (NS) Position Number 60048723 Grade MH22 About Us The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. Description of Work The Director of Psychology coordinates behavior analysis and support services and psychological services, including assessment and treatment with assistance of Senior/Supervising Psychologist staff, to approximately 220 residents with significant intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. The position provides staff training and consultation to all levels of staff as needed, consults Center-wide in areas of expertise, and provides community consultation and services as requested. The position coordinates the appropriate clinical supervision of staff within the department including the review of psychology licensure and behavior analyst certification requirements and professional development. The position supports the conduct and dissemination of applied research on improving understanding and treatment for people with intellectual disorders and related disabilities, The position coordinates the support of interns in the Psychology Department from high schools, colleges, and universities. The Psychology Director directly supervises four staff including three Senior/Supervising Psychologists and one Office Assistant. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences As of 2/1/26, the new salary range: Salary Range: $95,752.00 – $157,990.00 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs )/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:  Certification in behavior analysis preferred. Advanced knowledge and skill in assessment of intellectual disorders and related developmental disabilities, such as autism spectrum disorder, through standardized tests, behavioral observations, and evaluation of service delivery systems analyses. Advanced knowledge and skill in analyzing and treating learning, behavior, and psychiatric disorders. This requires knowledge of the conceptual and theoretical basis of psychological evaluation and behavior analysis, and skill in the clinical procedures that are appropriate to such treatment. Advanced knowledge in the principles and theory underlying the development of adaptive behavior and skill in the application of this knowledge to the learning problems of persons with significant learning and behavior disorders. Advanced knowledge and skill in conceptualizing, designing and conducting research into the understanding of intellectual disorders and into improving the technology of training, treatment and overall service delivery. Ability to disseminate results of these projects, both in a written and oral form. This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126) This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events. Shift Hours: 1st shift (Typically 8:00 am – 5:00 pm), Monday – Friday with some night and weekend work Candidates will be considered while completing licensure requirements.
