A day in the life: Under general direction, the Janitorial Floor Tech will be responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and restoration of all carpeted and hard surface floors throughout the facility. This role requires expertise in using specialized floor care equipment, applying industry best practices, and ensuring a clean and safe environment. What you’ll do as an Exceptional Team Member Must have experience: stripping and waxing, extraction carpet, shampooing carpet, construction cleaning, window cleaning, Machines: Side-by-side, buffing machine, power wash, extraction machine, wet vacuum Deliver high-quality service and professionalism, upholding the standards and integrity of the Environmental Services Department. Clean, maintain, and care for a variety of floor types, including tile, carpet, and brick. Complete assigned tasks efficiently and on schedule. Follow established procedures for the correct use of cleaning chemicals and supplies. Operate, maintain, and care for floor cleaning equipment safely and properly. Consistently observe safety protocols, including the use of “wet floor” signs and other precautions. Work independently with minimal supervision. Promptly report any safety hazards or concerns. What you’ll need to be an Extraordinary Team Member High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous experience in floor care, janitorial, or commercial cleaning is a plus Knowledge of floor care techniques for various surfaces Familiarity with operating and maintaining floor care equipment Understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe usage practices The Harvard Promise Join our team of Extraordinary People committed to delivering Exceptional Service.
