AI Enablement Operations Project Manager
Join Ferguson's AI Center of Excellence (AI CoE) and play a critical role in advancing AI adoption across the organization! In this highly visible position, you'll lead the operational management of our AI use case portfolio, partnering closely with business leaders, business collaborators, multi-functional teams to help transform ideas into scalable, business-ready AI solutions. You will lead all aspects of the end-to-end management of the AI use case pipeline, guiding initiatives from intake and evaluation through governance, leadership review, prioritization, and execution tracking. Working across both AI CoE portfolio operations and AI Adoption & Enablement programs, you'll balance contending priorities, coordinate key participants, manage risks, and ensure initiatives continue moving forward efficiently and effectively.
While AI Enablement leadership sets the overall strategy, governance framework, adoption approach, and portfolio direction, this role owns the execution and operational success of those programs. You'll exercise significant independent judgment in evaluating use cases, structuring discovery and analysis, determining readiness for leadership review, resolving issues, managing customer engagement, and presenting decision-ready recommendations to leaders and executives.
This is a senior-level individual contributor opportunity for an experienced project manager who thrives in ambiguity, brings structure to complex initiatives, and enjoys influencing outcomes in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You'll have a high degree of autonomy and accountability while helping expand Ferguson’s artificial intelligence capabilities and accelerating business value through responsible AI adoption.
Location: This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.
Responsibilities: Use Case Pipeline & Project Management: Own and manage the end-to-end AI use case process, steering opportunities from intake and discovery through evaluation, governance review, leadership disposition, and backlog management.
Assess incoming use cases for business value, feasibility, risk, and readiness, determining whether initiatives should advance, require further clarification, or be redirected.
Lead discovery efforts with business customers to uncover requirements, address ambiguities, identify dependencies, and surface potential risks or gaps.
Perform business systems analysis by documenting requirements, workflows, decision points, process dependencies, and exception handling, translating complex business needs into actionable recommendations.
Identify and coordinate required security, privacy, compliance, and AI governance reviews, ensuring assessments are completed prior to leadership decision-making.
Prepare decision-ready materials for leadership and governance forums, providing clear analysis, recommendations, and context to support informed prioritization decisions.
Partner with AI Business Partners to evaluate and route use cases to the appropriate delivery path, including AI Studio, self-service solutions, vendor-supported offerings, or AI Council review.
Maintain and manage the AI use case backlog, ensuring clear status tracking, prioritization rationale, and visibility for both active and deferred opportunities.
AI CoE Portfolio Operations: Maintain authoritative portfolio visibility — use case records, lifecycle status, and action tracking — and independently identify and flag portfolio risks, stalled items, or inconsistencies for leadership attention.
Prepare and independently draft briefing materials, intake packages, and portfolio summaries used in prioritization discussions and governance reviews, exercising judgment about what is material to the decision at hand.
Adoption & Enablement Program Execution: Manage the Adoption & Enablement ticket pipeline, including licensing requests, prioritization, resolution tracking, and customer concerns.
Coordinate and support the execution of AI onboarding, training programs, workshops, and AI Ambassador Network initiatives, proactively addressing operational and engagement challenges.
Partner with Function AI Leads, AI Business Partners, and Enablement leadership to drive alignment, communication, and successful program delivery.
Analyze feedback and program outcomes to find opportunities for continuous improvement and increased AI adoption.
Success Story & Impact Management: Own the enterprise AI success story repository, including independent judgment on what qualifies as a credible, well-evidenced success story versus anecdotal input.
Gather and validate business impact and outcome data, exercising discretion in how outcomes are characterized for leadership and enterprise audiences.
Multi-Functional & Executive Partner Engagement: Build strong working relationships with AI Business Partners, AI Ambassadors, Function AI Leads, and cross-functional participants to support successful AI initiative execution.
