Job Summary
The Cardiac Sonographer Lead is responsible for independently performing all echocardiograms, including those that are very complex, in the hospital-based and/or pediatric settings. The sonographer lead will serve as the liaison between sonographers and leadership. They are also responsible for coordinating the sonographer schedule and coverage under the guidance of the manager and medical director. The sonographer lead is involved in accreditation applications and ongoing quality assurance projects. They are expected to provide constructive feedback to staff and input on staff performance evaluations, hiring, and corrective action. Responsibilities may change over time at the discretion of department leadership to meet the department's evolving needs.

Essential Functions
-Perform all Cardiac Sonographer III responsibilities.
-Accreditation applications and ongoing quality assurance to maintain accreditation.
-Provide constructive feedback to staff and ensure adherence to protocol.
-Provide input on staff performance evaluations, hiring, corrective actions, and firings.
-Liaise between sonographers and leadership to communicate feedback/concerns regarding personnel, workflow, staffing, etc.
-Coordinate sonographer schedule and coverage under the guidance of the pediatric cardiology manager and medical director.
-Contribute to and present at team meetings.
-Liaison for local schools. Interview students.
-Teach fellows.
-Provide input on equipment demonstrations.
-Collaborates closely with investigators to support and streamline research operations, serving as a key resource for triaging and prioritizing patient orders to ensure efficient workflow.
-Contributes to the development and refinement of study protocols while also managing technical staff schedules, including reviewing and approving time‑off requests to maintain adequate operational coverage.
-Coordinate the sonographer schedule and coverage under the guidance of the cardiology manager and medical director.
Qualifications
Education
Associate's degree Diagnostic Medical Sonographer preferred
Licenses and Credentials
Registered Cardiac Sonographer [RCS] - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer [RDCS] - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required
Basic Life Support [BLS] - required
Experience
Sonographer experience 5-7 years preferred
