Lead Fleet Mechanic - Joppa, MD

Ground Logistics is seeking an experienced Lead Fleet Mechanic to maintain the safety, reliability, and performance of our light and medium-duty fleet in Maryland and surrounding states. As a FedEx contractor operating over 200 step vans, box trucks, and delivery vans across, this role is critical to minimizing downtime and ensuring our vehicles remain road-ready. Home Base Location: Joppa, MD Starting Pay:  $30-38/hr  Schedule: Full-time  What You’ll Be Doing: Diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of light and medium duty vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and AC Perform and oversee preventive maintenance programs (PMs) to ensure fleet reliability and minimize downtime Conduct DOT inspections and ensure all vehicles meet federal, state, and local safety and compliance regulations Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues using diagnostic software and testing equipment Prioritize and schedule repair work orders based on urgency, safety, and operational needs Lead, train, and mentor a team of fleet mechanics/technicians, assigning daily tasks and reviewing work quality Maintain accurate service records, repair histories, and maintenance logs using fleet management software (e.g., Fleetio, RTA, Samsara) Travel to different locations for emergency repairs as needed, often outside normal business hours Weld, fabricate, and repair vehicle bodies, frames, and components as required Requirements: 5+ years of experience as fleet mechanic with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role Strong working knowledge of automotive tools and repair techniques Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues independently Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards Proficiency with diagnostic tools and vehicle safety standards Willingness to undergo a background check Available to work outside of normal work hours Why You’ll Love Working With Us: Weekly Pay – Get paid consistently and on time FREE Telemedicine - 24/7 virtual doctor access for you Paid Time Off - Take paid days off to rest, recharge, or handle life events  Health, Dental, Vision, Life & Accident Insurance  - Benefits package to protect you  401(k) Retirement Plan – Invest in your future Here at Ground Logistics, we prioritize safety, integrity, service excellence, and attendance.
