MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Systems Administrator SME, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission. Responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure including managing servers, ensuring system availability and implementing solutions to improve system performance and security. Oversees the installation, configuration and maintenance of servers including physical and virtual environments. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements and provide appropriate solutions. Manages the Active Directory, and other core IT services. Monitors systems performance and troubleshoots moderate to complex issues to ensure high availability and reliability. Performs maintenance such as patch management, updates and backups. Plans and executes systems upgrades and hardware/software installations. Ensures systems are updated with latest security patches and software updates. Implements and maintains security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities. Conducts security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with organization policies and regulatory requirements. Develops, manages and tests backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability. Develops and maintains disaster recovery plans for critical systems and services. Participates in disaster recover drills and business continuity planning. Provides support to end users and other IT staff by resolving complex hardware, software and system related issues. Maintains detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures and changes. Creates reports on system performance, security incidents and other key metrics. Coordinates with other IT teams to ensure coordinated delivery of IT services. Provides recommendations for system improvements based on analysis and industry best practices. May assist in the development of IT policies and procedures. May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals. May serve as a team lead. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
