Description of Work Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV, this position requires specialization in two or more technical trades in connection with maintenance of facilities, related equipment, and machinery. Position will function at the journey level in multiple skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, masonry, heating and air, or similar specializations. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: - Completing complex work assignments, which require planning and/or coordinating multiple trade disciplines. - Working assigned tasks independently and referring very technical or unusual working problems to a supervisor for consideration. - Supervising offender workers engaged in semiskilled, unskilled, or of skilled maintenance assignments. - Ensuring compliance with work orders and maintaining equipment in proper working condition. About the Division of Institutions : The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
