The Role:
Our site in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking a New Production Introduction (NPI) Manager to join our team. Our site manufactures Liquid Micro Contamination Control (LMC) membrane products such as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UPE) membrane and other membrane products for Semi-conductor and Life Science industries. You will join our team to assist startup of our new membrane operations plant. As part of this effort, you will assist the commissioning and qualifying of both processes and equipment for use in high volume production. Once product qualification and operation readiness for Rockrimmon UPE is achieved, primary responsibility will be to drive the successful scaleup of products/processes from Development to Manufacturing for new products utilizing a Stage Gate Process and/or product transfer from one site to another. We need someone with strong communication, management and team building skills who, in addition, has experience in membrane manufacturing processes or a related field.
What You’ll Do:
Manage and develop a team of NPI engineers at the Rockrimmon plant as an integral part of the LMC Global NPI team who will engage with cross functional, multicultural teams to drive successful plant start up, product transfers and new product introductions. Specifically: Lead with influence across a multi-disciplinary team.
Develop a strong, agile NPI engineering team.
Ability to prioritize short-term needs of day-to-day production environment along with long-term deliverables and timelines.
Provide work guidance and mentorship to engineers and others on and outside your team.
Guide your team in technical evaluations, analysis, and implement process solutions to complex problems, enhancing our fully data-driven and risk-based thinking culture.
Manage team resourcing to support multiple projects across the product portfolio via the Accolade Stage-Gate application and drive team to complete tasks as required in timely fashion.
While driving readiness of the new membrane manufacturing line, you and your team will: Assist efforts to guide the installation and commissioning of new production scale equipment, following typical IQ/OQ/PQ protocols.
Develop and qualify membrane processes on new equipment to meet Key Performance Output Variables (KPOV) targets through design and execution of experiments, utilizing statistical tools to analyze experimental data.
Develop and drive new solutions to existing membrane manufacturing challenges such as improving yield, increasing capacity and minimizing variation.
For new product introductions, you and your team will; Work closely with the New Product Development team to drive and execute improvements/solutions to help the team meet the product design and manufacturing requirements and stage gate commitments while keeping focus on safety and quality.
Work directly with the Production/Operations cell team to ensure operation readiness of the new product portfolio. You will engage with the Manufacturing Engineers, Supervisors, and Technicians to drive the successful transition of products from early development to product release.
Provide documentation support such as creating/maintaining drawings, SOPs, test procedures, and test data.
Successful candidate will be required to train at the existing Bedford, MA site as part of onboarding to gain process knowledge to be successful in this role at the new Colorado Springs Manufacturing facility.
What We Seek:
B.S or M.S. in Chemical/Materials/Polymer engineering or related technical discipline
Experience in membrane manufacturing, polymer twin-screw extrusion, web handling or thin film processing or non-woven manufacturing processes
A collaborative leader that inspires cross-functional teams, prioritizing and driving for execution
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be a strong contributor to a cross-functional development team
Good verbal and written communication skills
Six sigma certifications and experience in statistical data analysis with MINITAB or other statistical software and capable of utilizing data for informed engineering-related decision-making. Demonstrated proficiency in Statistical Process Control, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Validation & Qualification processes
Proven Project Management skills and experience
Experience using IQ/ OQ/ PQ protocols
Experience in lean manufacturing.
Ability to adapt to changing responsibilities quickly based on business needs
Must have some flexibility in the work schedule during initial start-up to meet the demands of the project schedule. After plant start-up is complete, expect a schedule to return to normal business hours.
Ability to take on assignments with broad objectives where guidance is provided on critical issues only.
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a significant amount of that time successfully leading processes and / or continuous improvement related initiatives.
Outstanding Candidates Will Have:
Experience leading and developing an agile team.
Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt Certification
Subject matter expertise on membrane manufacturing processes
Proven expertise in qualifying equipment, processes, or products
