As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting outpatient psychiatry services by assisting with patient care, clinic operations, laboratory services, and care coordination. This role supports physicians, nursing staff, and clients by performing clinical and administrative duties including phlebotomy, injections, appointment coordination, medical documentation, and client support services. Key Responsibilities: Assist physicians and nursing staff with patient care and clinic operations
Prepare patients for examinations and treatment procedures
Obtain patient histories and record vital signs accurately
Administer injections and perform laboratory testing and phlebotomy duties
Maintain exam rooms, supplies, medical equipment, and inventory
Schedule appointments, manage charts, and complete prior authorizations
Provide education and information to clients regarding clinic services and care needs
Communicate lab results and medical concerns to providers and nursing staff
Support coordination of medical appointments, hospital visits, and discharge planning
Visit residential locations as assigned to complete medical reviews and support care coordination
Monitor and maintain durable medical equipment and clinic logs
Complete documentation timely and accurately according to company policies
Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding and HIPAA protocols
Participate in required meetings, trainings, and additional duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required
Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in applicable state required
One year of experience in a physician office or clinical setting preferred
Previous phlebotomy and laboratory experience preferred
CPR certification preferred
Required License/Certification (one of the following): Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in applicable state preferred
Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance required
Additional Qualifications: Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in crisis situations
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Knowledge of electronic health record systems and medical documentation practices
Ability to follow instructions, maintain confidentiality, and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
Basic mathematical and problem-solving skills
Flexible and adaptable in a rapidly changing healthcare environment
Supervisory Requirements: N/A
Employment Requirements: Successful completion of background checks including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checks
Completion of New Hire Orientation upon hire
Completion of all required training, including Relias training, upon hire and annually thereafter
Physical Requirements:
ADA Consideration – Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and documentation tasks.
Sedentary work primarily involves sitting but may include occasional walking or standing for brief periods throughout the workday.
