Position Summary: The MLT performs routine and specialized clinical lab tests for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by physicians. Responsibilities Performs all routine and specialized lab tests trained for as assigned. Runs, maintains and or repairs laboratory equipment. Performs and documents quality control samples in assigned work area. Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware and instruments. Prepares solutions, reagents, and stains according to standard formulas and procedures. Answers phones, responds to physician inquiries regarding lab results. Maintains required records, reports, statistics, logs, files to comply with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies. Performs all functions of a Sr. lab assistant as required. Receives or collects specimens; organizes and prioritizes work duties. Identifies and labels specimens. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
