CentraState Medical Center currently has a job opportunity available for an Oncology Nurse Educator in the Professional Development Department. The Nurse Educator is responsible for the planning, development, and documentation of clinical orientation and continuing education programs for nursing staff within the Oncology Service Line. This role supports quality patient care by educating healthcare providers in current practices and procedures, and by delivering patient, family, and community education in alignment with ANA standards, the New Jersey Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, specialty organizations, and CentraState’s evidence-based nursing policies. The Nurse Educator collaborates in designing, evaluating, and revising unit-specific educational programs—such as competency-based orientation, skill testing, and continuing education—based on identified learning needs, patient outcomes, community standards of practice, and current research.  Responsibilities Determines learning needs of clinical team members. Maintains ongoing needs assessments in coordination with service line nursing leadership and managers. Evaluates responses to educational programs. Identifies priority nursing topics related to quality assessment and improvement issues. Identifies educational needs regarding new products, policies, procedures, and/or issues related to professional associations and regulatory agencies. Provides ongoing team member development/continuing education. Collaborates with service line nursing leadership and manager to establish ongoing developmental goals. Assists with problem solving and development of action plans to meet developmental objectives. Facilitates attainment of objectives by planning and implementing continuing education programs. Works collaboratively with the Executive Director Professional Development, service line nursing leadership, managers, professisonal development colleagues, and service line team members in planning and implementing innovative programs/systems. Provides competency-based tools to support changed performance expectations. Structures formats and processes to support program implementation. Consults on projects as requested and complete in a timely fashion. Evaluates program/presentation effectiveness using relevant methods. Plans program evaluation based on program objectives. Implements evaluative process and analyzes findings. Plans and implements relevant follow-up activities. Participates in committees and task forces as a team leader, facilitator, and member to facilitate the improvement of nursing standards, processes, and principles. Researches, recommends, implements and evaluates policies and standards. Acts as a resource by providing input regarding identified problems and practice issues, developmental and problem-solving strategies. Assists in maintaining a structured orientation pathway for use with newly hired team members. Coordinates with service line nursing leadership and managers across the service line to ensure competency and clinical practice requirements are current. Assists in planning and implementation of annual service line nursing competency requirements utilizing simulation-based strategies, return demonstration, and direct observation to enhance learning and clinical skills. Works with the Executive Director Professional Development, service line nursing leadership, managers, professisonal development colleagues, and service line team members to support evidence-based practice and ensure regulatory compliance. #ind-csrn #li-csta Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's degree preferred (achieved within 3 years). Minimum of 3 years of Acute Care experience in a hospital setting as a Registered Nurse. Minimum of 3 years of inpatient and outpatient Oncology experience. Current RN license in the state of New Jersey required. Multistate RN compact license is acceptable. BLS/CPR Certification required.  OCN certification required. ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Card required Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates teaching and clinical abilities. Patient, compassionate nature. Proficiency in computer-based systems. Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.
