It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work **THIS IS AN ANTICIPATED VACANCY for 8/1/2026. The Nurse Supervisor I is located at Brown Creek Correctional in Polkton, NC. Brown Creek is a medium custody facility housing approximately 916 male offenders. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring professional nursing care and treatment is afforded to patients within medical policies and protocols and is consistent with Board of Nursing requirements. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct supervision of all nursing staff, staff schedules, assignments, orientation, performance improvement evaluations and clinical competency evaluations. The Nurse Supervisor supervises and conducts needs assessments, develops, implements and evaluates treatment plans and provides patient care and education to offenders. Position will ensure all policies and procedures are followed and submit short-and long-term care goals to leadership for review and approval. Position will perform administrative duties such as planning, organizing and managing daily operations, quality assurance, Human Resources management functions and staff development. The Nurse Supervisor will be required to develop and maintain effective communication and work relationships with physicians, upper management healthcare personnel, patients, families, agencies and others. The Nurse Supervisor must have the ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the facility. May be required to work any schedule to ensure medical operational needs are met at the facility level. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Pay Range: $ 71,698 - $118,304 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: Key Responsibilities: Demonstrated knowledge of basic nursing principles and techniques to include physical assessments, clinical judgments, treatment planning, and evaluation. Knowledge of medications and carrying out prescribed treatments Knowledge of management and supervisory practices/procedures Ability to coordinate nursing and training programs; and assisting in solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems in an assigned area.
