It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work This position is located at Maury Correctional Institution located in Hookerton, NC Maury Correctional Institution is a close-custody prison housing male offenders. Maury Correctional Institution serves as the hub for healthcare for the male inmate population. The facility is designed to house up to 1,500 offenders. Nurse Supervisor I is responsible for ensuring professional nursing care and treatment is afforded to patients within medical policies, protocols and consistent with Board of Nursing requirements. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct supervision of nursing staff to include staff schedules, assignments, orientation, performance improvement evaluations, and clinical competency evaluations. The Nurse Supervisor I supervises, conducts need assessments, develops, implements, and evaluates treatment plans, and provides patient care and education to offenders. Position will ensure all policies and procedures are followed and submit short- and long-term goals to Leadership for review and approval. Position will perform administrative duties such as planning, organizing and managing daily operations, quality assurance, Human Resource management functions, and staff development. The Nurse Supervisor will be required to develop and maintain effective communication and work relationships with Physicians, upper management healthcare personnel, patients, families, agencies and others. The Nurse Supervisor I must have the ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the facility. May be required to work any schedule to ensure medical operational needs are met at the facility level. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $69,027 – $113,896 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
