Description of Work Responsible for conducting theu unit orientation, on-the-job precepting, providing one-on-one support, and the completion of unit-based non-nursing procedure Checklists for new HCT's. As a function of precepting new staff, the Peer Mentor/HCT II is responsible for providing direct observations resulting in the identification of needed remedial development and suppost as the new employee learns his/her job skills and successfully adjusts to the LNMTC work culture. The Peer Mentor/HCT II, assists the Unit Nurse Manager (UNM) and Floor-Shift Supervisors (FSS) in the overall smooth operation of the unit. This includes maintaining a safe, sanitary, and homelike environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The Peer Mentor/HCT II is also responsible for assisting the Unit Nurse Supervisor in scheduling HCT I resident case assignments, monitoring for completion of assignments/implementation of care plans and special instructions by the HCT I's, and reviewing/auditing HCT I documentation for completion each shift. The Peer Mentor/HCT II may be responsible for scheduling, setting up, and leading unit-based leisure activities for residents. When not actively involved in the precepting of a new staff person, the Peer Mentor/HCT II will maintain a reduced resident care assignment. The Peer Mentor/HCT II may also be responsible for assisting the Unit Nurse Manager in scheduling staff in accordance with minimum staff ratios, filing resource needs, and preventing staff shortage as defined by Nursing Policy. This position is considered mandatory, which means that employees are required to report to work during adverse weather and emergency conditions. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $32,444 to $48,665 Considerable knowledge of approved behavioral intervention programs and of the needs of the population served. Considerable knowledge of appropriate protocols for medication administration and possible side effects. Considerable knowledge of training principles. Ability to train and mentor adults in group and one-on-one setting and ability to effectively convey information to family members, individuals, and treatment team, under general supervision, in verbal and written forms. Ability to document clear and concise notes of client progress and behaviors. Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC) , located in Wilson, NC, is a state-operated certified Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). With a staff of about 520, LNMTC provides support to approximately 200 residents with complex medical needs and/or co-existing neuro-cognitive disorders. THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED MANDATORY AND MUST REPORT OR STAY OVER DURING ADVERSE WEATHEREVENTS OR OTHER EMERGENCIES. We Will Be Recruiting For Multiple Positions With This Post. An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if: · The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date) · The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency · DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees. All Sign-on Bonuses are contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.
