The Physical Therapist Assistant will work collaboratively with experienced physical therapists in providing comprehensive orthopedic care to patients in an outpatient clinic setting. Key responsibilities include:
Guide patients through prescribed therapeutic exercises and functional activities to improve strength, flexibility, and mobility
Apply physical modalities including heat, cold therapy, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and other therapeutic treatments as directed by the supervising physical therapist
Document patient progress, treatment sessions, and outcomes accurately in electronic health records to support clinical decision-making
Assist patients in managing pain and regaining mobility following injuries, surgeries, or other orthopedic conditions
Monitor and supervise the aquatic therapy program, including pool maintenance and patient safety protocols
Perform patient intake assessments, vital signs monitoring, and range of motion measurements under physical therapist supervision
Educate patients on proper body mechanics, home exercise programs, and injury prevention strategies
Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment by adhering to infection control standards and equipment sterilization procedures
Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and mobility aids to ensure patient safety and comfort
Communicate effectively with the supervising physical therapist regarding patient progress, concerns, and treatment modifications
Support administrative functions including patient scheduling, equipment inventory management, and clinic organization
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies
Graduate from a CAPTE accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program
New or recent graduates are encouraged to apply
Current state licensure
CPR certification
Ability to work efficiently/effectively in an autonomous environment
Basic PC skills and knowledge, including but not limited to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, database software, and MS Office
