The PMO/Governance Lead will provide end-to-end governance, planning, coordination, and portfolio management support across Chevron's Retail Technology, Point-of-Sale (POS), Payments, Certifications, QA, and Support initiatives. This role will act as the central coordination point across business stakeholders, product owners, vendors, technology teams, and delivery partners to ensure strategic initiatives are properly prioritized, governed, tracked, and executed.
The ideal candidate combines strong program management capabilities with hands-on knowledge of retail technology, payment systems, POS platforms, certifications, testing, vendor management, and production support processes. The individual will help create a unified view across multiple workstreams, establish governance mechanisms, improve visibility, identify dependencies, and accelerate execution of critical modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Governance & Portfolio Management
Establish and manage governance processes across POS, Payments, Loyalty, Certifications, Support, and Technology initiatives.
Create and maintain a consolidated portfolio roadmap covering all active and planned projects.
Develop executive-level dashboards, milestone tracking, and status reporting.
Implement program governance, review cadences, escalation management, and decision forums.
Drive cross-functional alignment across business, product, engineering, vendors, and operations teams.
Ensure dependencies, risks, assumptions, and decisions are documented and actively managed.
PMO Leadership
Build and maintain integrated program plans across multiple workstreams.
Create high-level timelines, swimlane views, milestone roadmaps, and dependency maps.
Facilitate program reviews, governance forums, and leadership updates.
Coordinate execution across multiple stakeholders and organizations.
Drive accountability for deliverables, milestones, and commitments.
Support prioritization discussions and portfolio planning activities.
POS & Payments Program Oversight
Provide program oversight for POS modernization initiatives.
Coordinate certification, deployment, and testing activities across payment terminals and POS platforms.
Track equipment lifecycle management, certification status, end-of-life notices, and vendor readiness.
Partner with business and product owners to align technology initiatives with retailer and customer needs.
Support payment terminal, payment processor, and certification planning efforts.
Executive Communications
Prepare executive-ready presentations, dashboards, and strategic updates.
Present program health, risks, dependencies, decisions, and milestones to leadership.
Deliver concise portfolio views enabling informed decision making.
Translate technical initiatives into business-focused communications.
NOTE: Role requires 60% onsite client work in San Ramon Area, CA.
Basic Qualifications:
8+ years of Program Management, PMO, or Governance experience.
5+ years of experience in Retail Technology, POS Systems, Payments, or Fuel Retail.
Experience managing large cross-functional technology programs.
Experience working with multiple vendors and third-party partners.
Experience managing complex project portfolios and governance structures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in fuel retail or convenience retail domains.
Experience with payment certifications and EMV environments.
Experience working with Verifone, Gilbarco, Invenco, PDI, Fiserv, or similar retail technology vendors.
Experience leading modernization and transformation initiatives.
PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, or equivalent certification.
Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
