POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Uses a variety of technical precision measuring instruments to ensure acceptance and/or performance of components or finished devices according to established engineering instructions or quality practice standards. May provide training or job coaching to inspectors or production employees and works with independence of action and minimal supervision.
Please Note: Contractors are required to bring their own safety shoes.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow all Quality System Practices and SOP’s as defined by Medtronic policies, practices and procedures to ensure that FDA and ISO/MDD regulations are met
Participate within both departmental and cross-functional teams to assure compliance to regulatory and quality systems including both internal and external audits
Recommend and develop process, inspection testing and procedural initiatives to support production and Quality Systems
Provide leadership direction and coaching to inspectors or production employees for inspecting and/or testing parts, finished goods or re-worked items according to established specification and testing methods; provide training as necessary
Ensure documentation results, approve/reject items according to established standards
Ensure Quality Record accuracy for traceability according to established practices
Perform data collection, interpret and analyze information, provide recommendations for solution and continuous improvement
Demonstrate leadership and a service attitude throughout the organization
Identify and recommend training needs within manufacturing as it relates to quality
Work within multi-functional teams, QA or production
All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System
Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or governmental regulations
All other duties as assigned
Travel requirement: Less than 10%
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School or equivalent
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience in a technical field working with mechanical and electromechanical parts
5+ years of experience in manufacturing or technical setting in inspection and measurement systems
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Experience working in regulatory/FDA or ISO manufacturing setting
Proficiency in measuring and testing devices including calipers, microscopes, pin gages
Ability to utilize complicated drawings, follow technical instructions and mathematical/handbook formulas
Computer skills
Good writing and verbal skills
Performs with minimal supervision and has demonstrated good judgment and discretion
Previous experience with the inspection of Machine parts, plastic covers, injection molding parts and O-Arm scanner is VERY beneficial.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
2 year Associates Degree in a Technical Field or equivalent
PCBA Inspection (current or expired)
Strong working knowledge of mechanical assemblies and electromechanical assemblies
Manufacturing experience a plus
Experience in the medical device industry with emphasis on capital equipment a plus
Problem solving skills
Knowledge of engineering methods and practices.
Motivated Self-starter
Strong team skills
