Overview
The Regional Medical Science Liaison Director (RMD), Immunology – West is a key leader within Field Medical Affairs, responsible for building, leading, and developing a high-performing team of MSLs across the Eastern/Western U.S.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Field Medical Affairs, this leader will translate Medical Affairs strategy into regional execution, this role sits at the forefront of translating Medical Affairs strategy into meaningful scientific engagement, ecosystem influence, and actionable insight generation in preparation for launch.
This leader leads a high-performing team of MSLs within a region to deliver strategic, insight-driven engagement across diverse healthcare ecosystems and evolve how Field Medical delivers value through elevated engagement, deeper partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem, and real-time insights that inform enterprise decision-making.
Responsibilities
Regional Leadership & Team Development
Build, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of MSLs across the East /West region
Establish a culture of scientific excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous development
Drive performance through clear expectations, field engagement, and ongoing coaching
Recruit, onboard, and retain top Field Medical talent
Medical Strategy & Execution
Translate enterprise and Medical Affairs strategy into actionable regional plans
Ensure consistent, high-quality scientific exchange with key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic centers, and community providers
Drive strategic scientific engagement across academic centers, community networks, and organized systems of care to support launch readiness and evolving standards of care
Lead regional execution of medical initiatives, including congress strategy, advisory boards, and evidence generation support
Drive alignment and execution of launch readiness plans across the region
Insight Generation & Strategic Impact
Ensure high-quality medical insights are captured, synthesized, and communicated to inform strategy
Serve as an early sensing function for scientific, clinical, and healthcare ecosystem trends in immunology
Serve as the voice of the region, ensuring customer perspectives and field team insights are effectively captured, communicated, and translated into actionable strategies across the organization
Identify emerging trends, unmet needs, and opportunities to shape clinical and commercial strategy
Contribute to lifecycle planning and future indication strategies
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs & Evidence Generation functions, Commercial, and Market Access teams to ensure aligned execution
Support clinical trial awareness, site identification, and investigator engagement, as appropriate
Act as a strategic thought partner internally, influencing decisions through data and field insights
Drive KOL engagement on emerging indications and pipeline assets within relevant therapeutic areas
Operational Excellence
Develop and monitor KPIs and field metrics to assess impact and optimize performance
Ensure all activities are compliant with regulatory, legal, and company guidelines
Drive continuous improvement of field medical processes and best practices
Qualifications
Advanced scientific degree required (MD, PharmD, PhD or equivalent)
10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry within Medical Affairs
5+ years of experience leading and managing Field Medical/MSL teams
Proven track record of successful relationship building with KOLs, HCPs, and key stakeholders within the medical community
Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and build a high performing team
Deep expertise in Immunology (allergy/dermatology strongly preferred)
Proven track record supporting late-stage development and/or launch preferred
Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities
Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in a matrixed environment
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills
Deep understanding of compliance, regulatory requirements, and field medical best practices
Ability to travel up to 75%
Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $176,659 to $282,195.
We are committed to compensating employees equitably based on several factors including experience, education, licensure/certifications, skill level, location of the position, and availability of similar talent in a competitive market.
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary bonus, long term incentive, 401(K) plan with employer contribution, health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
