The Alignment Health Virtual Care Center is a collaborative approach to providing patients telehealth services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It provides support for Alignment Healthcare patients by being available to address any concern at any time. This program provides patients with timely clinical assessment, triage, and virtual care support when they need it, with the goal of helping members receive the right level of care at the right time and preventing unnecessary hospitalizations, health complications, and unmanaged disease progression.
Please Note: This position requires an active California RN license at the time of hire and is best suited for nurses with Emergency Department (ED), Urgent Care, ICU, CCU, Critical Care, Triage, or Telehealth experience.

Alignment Health is seeking a remote RN Nurse Health Specialist to join the Virtual Care Center team. As a Nurse Health Specialist, you will serve as a frontline triage nurse, utilizing your clinical judgment to assess patient concerns, provide telephonic and video-based clinical support, determine appropriate next steps in care, and escalate patient calls to an Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) when appropriate. You will manage patient care and treatment in collaboration with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Care Coordinators, and other members of the care team.
This position is ideal for nurses with experience in Emergency Department (ED), Urgent Care, ICU, CCU, Critical Care, Triage Nursing, or Telehealth environments who thrive in a fast-paced virtual setting and can independently manage multiple priorities while providing exceptional patient care and customer service.
Schedule
Initial Training Schedule:
- (2) weeks of virtual training
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Pacific Time
Regular Schedule:
- Must be available to work Pacific Time hours
- Rotating 10-hour shift schedule:
- Week 1: Wednesday - Saturday, 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Pacific Time
- Week 2: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Pacific Time
- No on-call responsibilities
- Required to work four (4) company-recognized holidays annually
- Holiday schedules are provided one year in advance
- Additional shift coverage opportunities may be available
- Fully remote position; candidates may reside anywhere within the United States
General Duties / Responsibilities:
Answer inbound calls into the virtual care center
Address patient concerns using clinical judgement
Collaborate with primary care physician, extensivist, and nurse practitioner (NP) / physicians assistant (PA), and case manager (CM) to develop care plan for members for non-Care Anywhere (CAW) patients
Conduct outbound calls and virtual visits to complete patient follow up
Review vitals daily for patients enrolled in remote patient monitoring program
Support disease management referrals
Interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ clinical problems and health care needs.
Educate members on topics such as disease process, end of life, medication, and compliance.
Discuss case with physician / NP /PA when appropriate.
Utilize multiple technology platforms simultaneously, including EMR, telephony, messaging, and scheduling systems
Complete accurate and timely documentation within the EMR by the end of each shift
Use of electronic medical records (EMR) required.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum Experience:
Knowledge of clinical standards of care
Minimum one (1) year experience as an RN
Experience assessing and triaging patient symptoms utilizing sound clinical judgment
Able to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced virtual environment
Strong documentation, communication, and time-management skills
Education / Licensure:
Required:
Registered Nurse (RN)
Successful completion of an accredited nursing program
Current, unrestricted California RN license at the time of hire
Must obtain all additional state nursing licenses required by Alignment Health within the first three (3) months of employment (Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, Texas). Alignment Health provides licensure reimbursement and support throughout the process.
CPR certification
