The expectations for the role are to demonstrate strong and effective management over the monthly closing and financial reporting process specific to his or her responsibilities.  The Senior Accountant will assist in the month end close accounting cycle and internal and external reporting of the Company. This individual will manage the month end responsibilities of the Company, including but not limited to; recording general and administrative expenses, accruals, retail transactions, and performing related account reconciliations and variance analysis. The position will take ownership for SoulCycle Corporate P&L’s; presenting monthly variance analysis to FP&A and wider stakeholders. The position will review and provide feedback to staff accountants for relevant journal entries and related account reconciliations.   The candidate will be able to develop and maintain smooth, cooperative working relationships with all levels in the Company and cross-functional departments such as Accounts Payable, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Retail. Qualified candidates will bring a strong knowledge of GAAP, willingness to learn, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.  This position will report directly to the Manager of Accounting at the Company’s corporate office.  Responsibilities   Manage the month-end close process including the recording of retail transactions, club & corporate expenses, and accruals to the general ledger.  Support the transactions and fluctuations of the P&L accounts with robust variance analysis  Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and provide analytical commentary on fluctuations  Review journal entries and provide guidance and training to staff accountants  Prepare various schedules, memos, and supporting documentation for the external audit  Able to work and partner effectively with other departments, such as Accounts Payable, Retail, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Tax.  Prepare analysis and internal reporting for FP&A and assist with budget inputs  Research and implement strategic based processes to improve accounting and month-end close responsibilities  Work in partnership with and provide support for senior team members on other various financial and operating analyses and ad hoc projects  Will work directly with several CPAs, so will have opportunity to gain experience hours if a CPA candidate.  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field  Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting and/or financial reporting, preferably experience in public accounting  CPA license or candidate actively pursuing CPA preferred  Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and experience with internal controls   Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)  Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus  Knowledge of OneStream is a plus  Self-motivated, proactive thinker with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.  Ability to work both independently with limited supervision as well as in a team environment.  Able to handle pressure and short deadlines with a positive attitude  Exhibit willingness and ability to learn, adapt and improve the environment.  Strong analytical and communication skills  Great attention to detail and highly organized  Career-minded and goal-oriented person who can see challenges as an opportunity for future advancements Pay Transparency: $80k - $90k AS A MEMBER OF THE EQUINOX TEAM YOU WILL RECEIVE:  We offer competitive salary, benefits, and industry leading commission opportunities for club employees  Complimentary Club membership  Perks and incentives with our products and services including Personal Training, Pilates, Spa and Shop  NOTE: This job description is intended to describe the general requirements for the position.
