The role is primarily based at the Health Transformation Building and requires routine travel between Dell Medical School clinical locations within the Austin area. This is a full-time, 100% on-site position based in Austin, Texas. Candidates must be local to the Austin area or willing to relocate prior to their start date. This position participates in an on-call rotation supporting ASC operations, including occasional evenings, weekends, and after-hours support as operational needs require. Mileage reimbursement is available for approved travel between clinical sites. The role offers opportunities for continued professional development, including employer-supported training and industry certifications, as the Clinical Engineering program continues to expand. Purpose The Senior Bioengineering Analyst serves as a senior-level Clinical Engineering professional responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of biomedical equipment across Dell Medical School's ambulatory clinics and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role provides advanced technical support for medical devices through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, asset lifecycle management, equipment planning, vendor coordination, and operational readiness while partnering closely with clinical operations, IT infrastructure, integration teams, cybersecurity, supply chain, and external service providers. As one of the foundational members of Dell Medical School's growing Clinical Engineering program, this position helps establish operational standards, improve equipment reliability, support medical device integration initiatives, and contribute to the long-term development of an in-house biomedical engineering team supporting both current ambulatory operations and future hospital expansion. The role requires a hands-on technical leader who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and continuously improving clinical engineering operations. Responsibilities Advanced Device Support & Technical Leadership Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex biomedical equipment failures and technical issues. Serve as an escalation point for advanced clinical equipment support. Provide technical expertise for specialized or high-risk medical devices. Develop and promote technical standards, best practices, and operational consistency across Clinical Engineering services. Support daily operational priorities, including ticket triage, preventive maintenance activities, equipment troubleshooting, and asset management. Program Oversight: Maintenance, Compliance & Readiness Oversee preventive maintenance (PM) and electrical safety testing (EST) programs for assigned medical device categories. Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, manufacturer, and organizational standards. Support audit preparation and regulatory inspections. Evaluate and continuously improve maintenance strategies, equipment readiness, and operational performance. Monitor equipment lifecycle status, maintenance history, and end-of-life replacement planning. Strategic Asset Lifecycle Management Lead asset lifecycle planning and capital replacement initiatives. Analyze equipment utilization, failure trends, downtime, and total cost of ownership. Partner with leadership to support capital planning and equipment standardization efforts. Support asset tracking initiatives, inventory accuracy, and real-time location service (RTLS) planning. Integration, Connectivity & Cybersecurity Support medical device integration, interoperability, and connectivity initiatives across clinical environments. Troubleshoot network-connected biomedical equipment. Partner with IT and cybersecurity teams to assess and mitigate medical device risks. Support device patching, firmware updates, vulnerability remediation, and medical device security initiatives. Assist with the ongoing evolution of clinical technology platforms, asset management systems, and ServiceNow adoption. Vendor & Contract Strategy Coordinate with OEMs, biomedical service providers, and external vendors to support equipment maintenance and repair activities. Evaluate service models and provide recommendations regarding in-house versus outsourced support. Participate in vendor performance reviews and technical discussions. Build collaborative relationships with vendors to improve service quality and equipment reliability. Process Improvement & Innovation Identify and implement process improvements that enhance Clinical Engineering operations. Support initiatives that improve equipment uptime, operational efficiency, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. Assist with the adoption of new technologies, workflows, and digital solutions supporting the future growth of Dell Medical School's Clinical Engineering program. Mentorship & Team Leadership Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Bioengineering Analyst I and II team members as the program grows.
