Job Description:
Civil Construction Inspector
Fountain Valley, California
Supporting projects across Orange County, California

We are seeking experienced Civil Construction Inspectors to support complex, high-impact wastewater infrastructure projects in and around Fountain Valley, California, and throughout Orange County, California.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will serve as a critical field representative, helping ensure construction work is completed safely, correctly, and in accordance with project requirements. Responsibilities include:
Performing complex construction inspection duties on active job sites
Providing continuous inspection of assigned construction activities to verify compliance with codes, standards, and project specifications
Focusing on one or more technical areas, including soils, concrete, mechanical, civil, structural, and wastewater pipelines
Supporting major wastewater treatment plant, sanitary sewer pipeline, and force main projects
Key Responsibilities
Inspect construction work to verify compliance with contract plans, specifications, codes, regulations, and safety requirements
Review and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications
Verify that materials and workmanship meet project requirements
Inspect construction performed by contractors for wastewater treatment plant facilities, lift stations, and wastewater collection systems
Coordinate equipment and process isolations, shutdowns, and tie-ins
Support project safety efforts, including job hazard analyses
Monitor contractor safety practices and traffic control plans to help maintain a safe environment for employees, contractors, and the public
Document and follow up on safety and traffic control issues, including corrective actions
Assist in maintaining accurate as-built drawings and verify contractor-provided as-builts
Support Resident Engineers with field change orders, plan clarifications, and design changes
Review and approve final drawings for record documentation
Prepare and maintain detailed inspection records, including daily reports, photo logs, field test results, force account reports, extra work requests, submittal files, and project logs
Assist with monthly progress reports and participate in construction meetings
Coordinate with contractors, utilities, regulatory agencies, city officials, and the public to minimize project impacts and support successful project delivery
You will also be expected, and supported, to travel to field sites as project needs require, primarily within Orange County, CA.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking construction inspection professionals who bring relevant experience, strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach.
Basic Qualifications
Education
Associate degree in a technical or construction-related field, or
High school diploma or equivalent with relevant work experience
Experience
10 or more years of related experience on heavy municipal construction projects related to construction of rehabilitation of wastewater treatment facilities, wastewater pumping stations, and wastewater pipelines.
Formal certification(s) from an independent organization, depending on inspection discipline, such as concrete, soils, mechanical, or electrical
Technical Skills
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong understanding of construction means and methods within your area(s) of specialization
Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and detailed field documentation and reports
Required Certifications
OSHA 10-Hour Outreach Training Program – Construction
OSHA Fall Protection
OSHA Permit-Required Confined Space Entry
Preferred Qualifications
Experience inspecting wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, sewer pipelines, and sewer manhole rehabilitation projects.
Background in wastewater treatment facilities, sewer collection systems, or large municipal infrastructure projects
Valid California Class C driver’s license
