Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure, need for liver transplantation and premature mortality. Madrigal’s medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. Rezdiffra is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c). Our success is driven by our people. The  Senior Director, Commercial Development,  will be a critical member of the Global Marketing and Commercial organizations who will help build the future of Madrigal. This is truly a unique opportunity to make a difference for the betterment of patients living with MASH. This individual will be responsible for driving portfolio strategy and representing the global commercial perspective across the Madrigal pipeline, ensuring development, commercialization strategy, and launch planning reflect and are fully aligned to commercial priorities. This role serves as a key stakeholder interfacing with study and program teams, providing strategic guidance on target product profiles (TPP), market positioning, clinical development prioritization, and commercial readiness to maximize portfolio value. The Senior Director will work cross-functionally with RD, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial Strategy and Regulatory and provide thought leadership to shape the development path and commercialization strategy across the entire Madrigal early-stage portfolio. The role requires deep expertise in specialty pharma market dynamics, competitive intelligence, payer landscape, and commercial strategy, to provide insightful feedback and inform global decisions from early development through launch and lifecycle management. Clinical development & indication strategy Shape commercial perspective on indication prioritization, endpoints, comparator strategy, and trial design. Identify label-optimizing opportunities and evidence needs to support global approval, access and adoption. Help lead cross-functional TPP working group and develop portfolio strategy. Lead early readiness planning for new product and indication launches. Market intelligence & competitive strategy Support market landscape and market research analyses: epidemiology, treatment pathways, competitive pipelines and emerging modalities. Partner with Commercial Strategy & Operations, Medical Affairs and Thought Leadership team to surface signals that drive strategic shifts. Forecasting & business planning Collaborate on revenue forecasting, scenario planning and pricing/market uptake assumptions. Inform investment, launch sequencing and lifecycle decisions with commercial assessments. Support cross-functional commercialization planning with Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Patient Access, Thought Leadership, Communications and Medical Affairs for coordinated launch readiness and market shaping. Leadership competencies This role ensures the product is developed and positioned to achieve maximum clinical adoption and commercial success by embedding evidence, access and commercialization needs into global development and launch decisions. Key Skills/Requirements: Proactive, self-starter and independent worker motivated by challenges and delivering results (business owner mindset) Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and ability to balances near-term development priorities with long-term asset value High learning agility and problem-solving skills with ability to multi-task across several projects Data-driven decision maker with strong analytical skills to quickly diagnose problems and develop fit-for-purpose solutions Ability to influence without formal authority to drive cross-functional alignment Ability to execute and thrive in fast-paced environments filled with ambiguity Superb communication skills, both verbal and written Desire to professionally develop and gain more responsibilities resulting in greater impact Up to 25% of the time (including weekends as needed) Required to be in office 3 days per week (Conshohocken, PA or Waltham, MA) Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree required, advanced degree preferred Candidate must have 15+ years of biopharmaceutical marketing and/or commercial development experience Must have deep and direct commercial development experience (5+ years) advancing multiple pre-commercial assets to launch Experience with MASH or related therapeutic areas is a plus Strong scientific background is a plus Experience in smaller company (or team) environments is a plus Madrigal’s Total Rewards strategy is based on a biotech industry peer group comparator and is inclusive of base pay, bonus and equity.
