Our Communication, Navigation and Surveillance team is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager with a passion for engineering and the desire to lead an innovative, dedicated team responsible for future development and testing of mechanical solutions for avionics systems in commercial aircraft .
This is an onsite role in Melbourne, Florida.
What you will do:
L ead a team responsible for the mechanical design, development, qualification, production support, and sustainment of mechanical solutions for Communication/Navigation/Surveillance airborne avionics products.
This role requires strong technical leadership in mechanical and electronic packaging including: mechanical support for circuit card designs, structural design, thermal management, materials, environmental qualification, and producibility for safety-critical aerospace applications.
The manager will be responsible for driving technical execution across new product development, product improvements, customer programs, and sustainment activities.
This includes leading design reviews, supporting qualification planning and testing, resolving production and field issues, ensuring compliance with applicable aerospace standards, and partnering closely with systems, electrical, software, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, program management, and customers.
Qualifications you must have:
Typically requires a degree in in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
U.S. Person required - Job requires access to ITAR or 600/500-series EAR information or hardware (directly or indirectly ) and the company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
Experience with avionics products, LRU packaging, electronics enclosures, rack-mounted equipment, antennas/sensors, cockpit or flight deck equipment, or aircraft -installed hardware .
Solid understanding of mechanical design practices for harsh environments
Previous experience leading a team through fast-paced technical and program challenges to include balanc ing technical rigor, schedul ing commitments, product safety, and business priorities while developing talent and building a high-performing engineering team.
Familiarity with RTCA DO-160 environmental qualification testing for airborne equipment, including temperature, vibration, shock, humidity, EMI/EMC, lightning, and other aircraft environmental
Qualifications we prefer:
Understanding of DO-254 is preferred, especially when mechanical design supports airborne electronic hardware, circuit card assemblies, or custom electronic hardware packaging.
Experience with mechanical CAD design (especially Siemens NX) and analysis tools, including thermal analysis, vibration analysis, structural analysis.
Familiarity with materials and manufacturing processes such as machined parts, sheet metal, castings, injection molding, die casting, fasteners, coatings, bonding, and electronics assembly packaging.
