About this Role Irby Construction Company, is one of the nation’s leading electrical contractors, is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to manage electrical transmission, distribution, substation, and related projects for our Central Regional office based in Richland, Mississippi which performs work throughout the state of Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. This position is responsible for overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The responsibilities for this role span a broad spectrum, covering all the areas of project management, project planning, contract administration, quality, and safety management while ensuring projects are completed successfully. What You'll Do Prepare project construction schedules Prepare and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to clients Manage day-to-day activities of assigned projects Act as the main point-of-contact on large complex projects Coordinate and lead meetings, schedule updates, submit deliverables and address outstanding open items as requested by clients Prepare look-ahead documents and weekly, monthly progress reports and related billing information Review and monitor job costs versus budgets Report regularly to the management team Help prepare and regularly update comprehensive cost estimates for projects as necessary Prepare bills of material and other information Closely monitor and track all equipment utilization, including owned, leased, and rented vehicles and equipment. Develop work plans and collaborate with construction Superintendent responsible for overseeing the project. Monitor work for compliance with schedule, budget, quality, safety, and overall conformance with the contract documents. Attend progress meetings, develop status reports, and deliver presentations as required. Assist in negotiating with the customer regarding changes to design, construction work scope, and schedules. Support Company’s safety vision and comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures; maintain accountability for safety performance of subordinate personnel. Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking of team expenses, forecasting, job margins and minimizing exposure/risk on projects. Oversee project field office personnel Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable. Regular and predictable attendance Additional duties as assigned What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience (5+ years’ project management in the construction industry) 10 years or more of experience in the electrical industry and/or possessing project management experience within transmission, distribution, or substation construction projects is preferred Knowledgeable about specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services Able to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, etc. plans and specifications to include blueprints, proposals, and other documents as they relate to electrical work Proficient with Microsoft Office applications Experienced with estimating software tools Ability to prepare and or support preparation of construction schedules in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera Excellent analytical, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills Team player who is able to successfully work with diverse internal and external partners Self-driven with the ability to stay on-task for extended periods of time Reliable, experienced, customer-oriented and proven leadership experience. Ability to effectively solve problems and conflicts. Ability to plan, coordinate, and provide leadership in the execution of complex construction projects and manage a large workforce. Ability to delegate and manage multiple operations simultaneously. Ability to assess the operational effectiveness of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
