It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work This role serves as the Commission’s subject‑matter expert in psychological testing, evaluation, and assessment of incarcerated individuals. The position works independently to prepare detailed psychological reports, provide professional recommendations for case planning, and support Commission members in decision‑making related to parole, MAPP agreements, and medical release considerations. The evaluator also reviews confidential records and completes mental‑health aftercare memorandums for individuals releasing to post‑release supervision. Some travel is required, and applicants may be asked to provide a sample of their work during the interview process. Key Responsibilities • Conduct interviews and administer/interpret psychological tests for incarcerated individuals • Prepare and present comprehensive psychological evaluations and risk assessments to the Commission • Review confidential records and complete mental‑health aftercare memorandums for release planning • Provide expert consultation on specialized cases, including life sentences, sex offenders, and individuals with significant mental‑health needs • Evaluate medical release referrals and complete the Commission’s required risk assessments Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $82,857 - $136,714 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.   The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not   required . Applicants who   possess   the following skills are preferred:   Knowledge of psychological testing, evaluation methods, and assessment tools used with incarcerated individuals • Strong ability to prepare, interpret, and present comprehensive psychological reports and risk assessments • Skill in reviewing confidential records and synthesizing complex information for decision‑making • Ability to consult effectively on specialized cases, including mental‑health, life‑sentence, and sex‑offender populations • Strong interviewing skills and the ability to administer and interpret psychological assessments independently The Posting Will Close At 11:59 P.M.
