Role Responsibilities  We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the modernization of enterprise payment and integration platforms by transforming legacy applications into scalable, cloud-native microservices on AWS. This role will provide technical leadership for platform transformation initiatives across North America (NA) and Latin America & Caribbean (LACA), including TIBCO Exit, cloud database modernization, distributed caching frameworks, and event-driven architectures. Role Responsibilities Architect and lead migration of legacy applications and middleware platforms to AWS-based microservices. Design scalable, resilient, and highly available cloud solutions leveraging modern architectural patterns. Define platform standards, reusable frameworks, and engineering best practices. Lead the implementation of cloud-native persistence strategies using PostgreSQL, Aurora, DynamoDB, and other AWS data services. Design and implement distributed caching solutions using Redis, Elasticache, and in-memory data grid technologies. Drive API modernization and event-driven integration patterns leveraging Kafka and AWS messaging services. Partner with Architects and Engineering Managers to define platform roadmaps and transformation strategies. Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple teams. Role Requirements  Master’s degree with 4 years of experience; bachelor's degree with 6 years of experience.  Equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.   Solid experience in Java and Spring Boot. Strong experience building AWS cloud-native microservices. Experience with: AWS ECS/EKS/Lambda API Gateway Kafka/Event Streaming PostgreSQL/Aurora Redis/Elasticache Docker/Kubernetes Deep understanding of distributed systems, caching strategies, scalability, and resiliency patterns. Experience leading large-scale modernization and migration initiatives Preferred Skills Fintech experience (payments, risk, compliance, banking, etc.) Knowledge of security, authentication, and regulatory considerations UI/UX awareness and ability to work with design systems Work Shift HYBRID -  Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible. Salary Annual base salary range is $110,000 - 135,000 USD per year.  Total on-target compensation includes a base salary and short-term incentives that align with individual and company performance.
