Great Basin College is seeking a creative, energetic, and strategic Social Media Specialist to elevate the college's digital presence and engage prospective students, current students, alumni, employees, and the communities we serve. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys storytelling through compelling content, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a passion for building meaningful connections through social media. As a member of GBC's marketing team, you will help strengthen the college's brand, support student recruitment and enrollment initiatives, and showcase the people, programs, and events that make Great Basin College unique. What You'll Do Develop and execute social media strategies that support marketing, recruitment, and enrollment goals. Create, schedule, and publish engaging written, graphic, photo, and video content across multiple social media platforms. Maintain an editorial content calendar to ensure timely, consistent, and strategic messaging. Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and foster positive online engagement. Analyze social media performance and provide recommendations to improve reach, engagement, and effectiveness. Partner with faculty, staff, and campus departments to promote academic programs, student success stories, and college events. Attend events throughout GBC's service area to capture photos, videos, and behind-the-scenes content. Supervise and mentor student employees assisting with social media and digital content creation. Organize and maintain digital media assets while staying current with emerging social media trends, platforms, and best practices. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant professional experience; OR High school diploma or equivalent and six years of relevant professional experience; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling six years. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, business, or educational institution. Proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management and analytics tools. Experience using applications such as Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creative software. Photography, videography, and video editing experience. Experience in higher education, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field. Strong writing, storytelling, and interpersonal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail. Working Conditions This position requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support college events and activities. Travel throughout Great Basin College's service area is required. A valid driver's license is required. Compensation Grade Administrative Faculty – B This is a 12 month “A” contract, 12 month contracts are used for year round programs. The budgeted salary range for this position is $61,000 to $80,000. Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets. Remarkable Retirement Our retirement plan is beyond compare.
