Position Purpose: The Software Engineering Manager will lead the development and delivery of high-quality web applications to serve our business customers, ensuring alignment with corporate technology and innovation goals. The position requires a hands-on leader with extensive experience in cloud-native application development, capable of fostering agile practices, managing HR responsibilities, and driving technical roadmaps that align with business opportunities to enhance system design, architecture, and performance. By leveraging proficiency in Azure functions, .Net, C, and a deep understanding of microservices architecture, the manager will mentor teams, resolve technical conflicts, and diagnose complex issues, while promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment in line with the company's forward-looking ethos. Key Responsibilities: Partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, Security, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, high-impact technical solutions. Lead and deliver high-quality web applications within a fast-paced Agile/DevOps environment, ensuring the continuous integration and deployment of reliable solutions that align with business objectives. Spearhead all phases of project lifecycles, applying expertise in programming languages such as HTML, CSS, .Net, C, SQL, and JavaScript, and utilizing development tools like Microsoft Visual Studio, Git, and Azure for efficient production. Drive the adoption and continuous improvement of agile practices to foster self-directed teams, enhancing their ability to execute high-quality work autonomously and effectively. Develop and maintain comprehensive technical roadmaps, guiding engineers across multiple teams to deliver strategic initiatives that align with key business opportunities and objectives. Provide strategic recommendations to enhance overall application system design and architecture, with a focus on ensuring robust security, scalability, reliability, and performance across all platforms. Mentor and coach engineering team members, empowering them to leverage new technologies and innovate processes, fostering an environment of autonomy and accelerated performance. Manage all human resources responsibilities for the engineering team, including pay planning, promotions, budgeting for expenses, and monitoring leave to ensure team stability and morale. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve extremely complex technical issues, mediating conflicts and facilitating resolutions to maintain team effectiveness and project momentum. Establish and monitor engineering metrics (delivery predictability, quality, reliability, and operational health) to drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making. Drive the responsible adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices, including AI-assisted development, testing, and operational insights, to enhance developer productivity, system reliability, and decision-making. Direct Manager Direct Reports: Reporting Structure: The Software Engineering Manager reports directly to the Senior Engineering Director. This position is accountable for ensuring alignment with the strategic vision and technical roadmap as set forth by senior leadership. Direct Reports: The Software Engineering Manager will directly oversee a team consisting of 2 to 5 software engineers. This managerial role includes end-to-end responsibility for HR tasks, such as performance evaluations, mentorship, pay planning, promotions, and leave management. The role emphasizes fostering an agile, self-directed team environment, empowering engineers to deliver high-quality work through effective coaching and leadership. Travel Requirements: The Software Engineering Manager is required to travel periodically to corporate offices and operational locations nationwide to facilitate collaboration, oversee project implementations, and ensure alignment with business objectives and technology initiatives. Physical Requirements: The role of the Software Engineering Manager predominantly involves typical office-based tasks that require standard physical expectations. This includes the ability to remain seated or standing at a desk and utilize a computer and other office equipment for extended periods. The position may also occasionally involve lifting or carrying office supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. Clear communication, both verbal and written, is essential.
