This position develops predictive models, conducts advanced statistical analyses, and transforms complex data into meaningful insights through reports and visualizations. The role collaborates with campus stakeholders to identify emerging analytic opportunities and communicate actionable findings. What you’ll do in this position: Develop predictive models and apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to institutional data Analyze and integrate data from multiple sources to identify trends and answer strategic university questions Design and evaluate studies that measure the effectiveness of student success initiatives and institutional programs Create dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that communicate actionable insights to university leadership Develop and maintain automated reporting tools and analytical data structures Respond to ad hoc analytical requests while documenting methods, assumptions, and findings Train campus partners on interactive reporting tools and data resources Stay current with emerging data science, analytics, and artificial intelligence methodologies to enhance institutional research capabilities What qualifies you for this role: Required A firm commitment to the mission of BYU. Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field, and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Expertise in Bayesian statistical modeling and advanced statistical analysis Experience with predictive modeling, machine learning, and data visualization Proficiency in Python, SQL, R, or similar statistical programming languages Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently as well as collaboratively Preferred Ph.D. in a related field and two to four years of relevant experience Experience in higher education institutional research or assessment Experience developing Tableau dashboards and other data visualization products Experience evaluating educational programs using causal or quasi-experimental methods What we offer in return: This position comes with fantastic benefits, including: 401k.
