Our team in Cheshire CT is currently looking for a 1st shift Sr Production Supervisor to lead a high-performing operational team. This individual will oversee a group of 15-20 employees in a dynamic environment, ensuring that contractual quality, cost, and delivery requirements are consistently met. Safety is a top priority, and the Production Supervisor will be responsible for fostering a safe work environment and implementing safety enhancement initiatives. Collaboration with departments like manufacturing engineering, equipment maintenance, and production control is crucial for success in this role. Continuous improvement through six sigma and lean methodologies is essential for surpassing performance goals in cost, quality, delivery, and safety.
What You Will Do
Oversee the execution of schedule and cost, workforce planning and forecasting, employee hiring and training, time and attendance tracking, area layout and flow management, and capital identification and control of overhead expenses.
Lead a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment to ensure products meet contractual quality, cost, and delivery requirements by planning, organizing, and directing production flow.
Ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures, maintain a safe work environment, and engage in safety improvement projects.
Role requires daily interaction with various cross-functional teams within the organization to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
Success in this position will be measured by achieving/exceeding cost, quality, delivery, and safety goals, as well as identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities using six sigma and lean methodologies.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
Demonstrated management experience in the areas of: Workforce planning and forecasting.
Employee hiring and training.
Time and Attendance Tracking.
Area layout and flow management.
Capital identification and control of overhead expenses.
Ensuring full compliance of company policies and procedures.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, and performance management.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and SAP.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications We Prefer
Background in implementing lean manufacturing concepts and proven success with lean/six sigma projects.
Previous experience overseeing unionized employees in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in SAP.
Familiarity with manufacturing in the aerospace/defense sector.
Exceptional communication skills and adept at conflict resolution.
Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean manufacturing, CORE, and Six Sigma.
