The Staff Business Excellence Engineer is responsible for implementing business improvement initiatives for manufacturing lines with focus on waste and productivity. He/She will Lead the JJOS program, defining opportunities, analyzing data with cross functional partners and implementing improvements. Improvements initiatives are led by influencing cross-functional teams that deliver tangible business results through the application of lean and/or Six sigma principles, methodologies, and tools. The Business Excellence Industrial Engineer will execute projects at the manufacturing site to drive the Business Units financial performance. The Business Excellence Industrial Engineer is reporting into the Business Excellence Manager.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Responsible for planning and execution of process performance improvements related to waste/MUV or productivity of a manufacturing area.
Update and create capacity models to add value to the business
Drives key initiatives as project leader.
Leverages process knowledge to identify opportunities / solutions to improve e.g. OEE, Quality
Sustains business improvement results through the application of Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
Performs benchmarking internal/external and other uses systematic tools for idea generation.
Leads x-functional teams and develops, maintains and uses J&J network to identify potential solutions.
Leadership, influence and accountability skills demonstrated required for a JJOS lead role
Facilitates business case definitions and results presentations; as required.
Develops monitoring and reporting systems that allow the Business Unit to make efficiency-based decisions.
Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable
Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
Performs other duties assigned as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor or Master in Engineering
Minimum of 4 years of relative experience
Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification (Lean certification preferred).
Strong ability to successfully apply and display mastery in Process Excellence methodology.
Demonstrates awareness of stakeholders, including Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering and Process Quality Leader and Quality Operations.
Demonstrates collaboration skills.
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Shows strong problem solving skills.
Good understanding of financial aspects of the Business Unit (CapEx, standard cost)
Excellent project management and leadership ability.
Demonstrates familiarity with relevant standards such as (but not limited to) QSRs and ISO 13485
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS
Strong knowledge of computer packages such as Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. AutoCAD and other similar software.
Must possess demonstrated analytical capacity.
Knowledge in Finances
Bilingual English – Spanish
Good interperwcapacity to direct other persons.
Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Must think strategically and act tactically.
Must be perseverant: good follow up and project direction.
Knowledge of Product Cost (Std Cost).
Knowledge of Business from Start to Finish (Supply Chain)
