As a Sterile Processing Technician , you will play a critical role in supporting our surgical and procedural teams through the decontamination, sterilization, inspection, assembly, and distribution of surgical instruments and trays. Your work directly contributes to safe patient care and successful surgical outcomes every single day.
This is an active, fast-paced role that combines technical skill, attention to detail, teamwork, and physical movement throughout the shift.
Location: Logan Health Medical Center | Kalispell, Montana
Schedule: Evening Shift – 8 Hours | PRN status
What You’ll Do:
Protect Patient Safety
Decontaminate, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to strict department and regulatory standards.
Perform quality assurance checks to ensure instruments are safe, functional, and surgery-ready.
Assemble & Prepare
Assemble surgical trays and instrument sets with accuracy and attention to detail.
Wrap, label, and prepare trays and equipment for sterilization and transport.
Keep Operations Moving
Maintain organized inventory of instruments, implants, and supplies.
Communicate shortages, equipment concerns, or damaged instruments to the appropriate teams.
Support a High-Performing Surgical Team
Work closely with surgical staff and healthcare teams to ensure instruments and supplies are available when needed.
Help maintain efficient workflow in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
What to Expect Physically:
Sterile Processing is a hands-on, physically active role. Team members regularly:
Push and pull large instrument carts and supply bins
Lift trays, equipment, and supplies
Stand and move throughout the shift
Work in a fast-paced environment that requires stamina, organization, and attention to detail
Qualifications:
Experience
Previous sterile processing or healthcare experience is preferred, but not required.
We welcome motivated individuals who are eager to learn and grow in healthcare.
Certification (Preferred)
Candidates will be expected to obtain at least one of the following certifications within two years of hire:
International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM/HSPA)
Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
Skills
Strong organizational and critical thinking abilities
Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite and learning additional software as needed

Qualifications:
Minimum of one (1) year work experience in sterile processing or healthcare preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum of one (1) of the below must successfully be obtained within two (2) years of hire as applicable to assigned location:
International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)
Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) certification
Promotes excellence through setting high standards and providing high quality outcomes.
Ability to act with integrity, kindness, and exhibit empathy.
Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
