Job Description This role is responsible for executing rigorous systems engineering processes to support the design, integration, and management of complex nuclear systems throughout their lifecycles. Working within established model-based systems engineering frameworks, this position ensures all system components work together effectively and meet project requirements. The Systems Engineer focuses on verifying and validating product requirements according to the systems engineering lifecycle process while maintaining clear documentation of design decisions and system interfaces. This Systems Engineer III-IV role owns the complete lifecycle journey of complex nuclear fuel production systems from initial concept through operations, executing INCOSE-aligned systems engineering processes at every phase. The engineer establishes and maintains enterprise engineering procedures defining how design control, configuration management, verification & validation (V&V), and quality assurance (QA) are executed. Throughout the lifecycle journey, the Systems Engineer owns multi-system integration and manages configuration baselines for assigned subsystems, ensuring all components work together effectively and meet NRC and DOE requirements. Core responsibilities include interface management, design change control, and comprehensive V&V activities – managing Requirements Verification Traceability Matrices (RVTM), developing and executing test plans, overseeing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and applying rigorous verification methods (inspection, analysis, demonstration, and test). The engineer manages requirements traceability using JAMA as the primary platform (IBM DOORS experience transferable) and coordinates cross-discipline activities using JIRA for project management and issue tracking. The role requires proven systems engineering leadership: translating ambiguous high-level direction into actionable plans, driving cross-functional efforts to completion with minimal oversight, and resolving stakeholder concerns through systematic problem-solving.
