A+ Communications & Security   Job Title: Technician Level 3, Security/Fire   Department: A+ Communications   General Function   The Technician, Security/Fire works with the Manager, Security/Fire to coordinate installation of security and fire alarm systems .   Core Competencies   Partnership   Growth mindset   Results oriented   Customer focused   Professionalism   Reporting Relations   Accountable and Reports to: Manager, Security/Fire and Assistant Manager Security/Fire   Positions that Report to you: None   Primary Duties and Responsibilities:   Installs, tests, inspects and repairs security and fire alarm systems.   Uses blueprints or building plans to determine proper systems to install based on building layout and setting.   R un s wiring and circuits , i nstalls hardware , and attaches electrical wires.   Inspects and tests systems, batteries, and electrical wiring; makes adjustments and repairs as required.   Replaces malfunctioning hardware when necessary .   Ensures systems comply with electrical and fire codes.   Explains and demonstrates system function and operation to end users.   Performs other related duties as required .   Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:   Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read installation and system manuals.   Ability to read blueprints and building plans.   Ability to use hand and power tools to install hardware.   Ability to work at varying heights using ladders and man-lifts .   Education and Experience:   High s chool d iploma or equivalent required . Vocational/ t echnical s chool training preferred; on-the-job training may be provided. Must hold NICET II license. Must hold a valid driver's license. Physical Requirements:   Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending , and climbing ladders .   Physically able to install system hardware and wiring.   Must be able to lift and/or move 75 pounds at a time.   Must be available for rotating weekend on-call service with other technicians .   Travel within Hy-Vee trade area .   Pass a DOT physical .
