Overview The tooling technician's main role will be to perform maintenance on production tooling. This will include inspecting the diameter of bushings, mold buffing/taping and replacing casters. Technicians remove excess resin flashing, tape, and debris from the mold's surface. Clean and degrease the molds with a chemical solvent and apply a release agent before returning them to production. Wears proper protective equipment during appropriate job functions. Complies with all paperwork, such as work instructions, specifications and standard operating procedures that govern job duties.
Responsibilities
Buff and body work metal and composite tooling
Apply prep chemicals to molds
Inspection of overall tool quality to type design
Basic tool preventative maintenance
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
2 years of comparable composite work experience or 3 years manufacturing experience
Working knowledge of hand and power tools
Willingness to learn, be adaptable, accept changes and challenges
Ability to read, analyze and interrupt blueprints, specs, technical drawings, procedures or regulations.
Ability to write routine reports and procedures.
Possess strong troubleshooting skills
Strong understanding of mechanical systems
Ability to communicate and respond to common questions from supervisors, leads, and co-workers.
Ability to present complex information to management
Attention to detail required. Must be able to work as part of a team. Ensures that all assigned work areas are kept clean, orderly, and presentable at all times.
