The hiring range for this role is: $96,237 - $120,409/annually. The Transportation Planning Supervisor within the Public Works Department leads and supervises the Transportation Planning team on a variety of projects and initiatives. This position produces work products that meet established professional and organizational standards which may include special projects. This position also leads projects and efforts related to transportation. This position serves as the city’s liaison to regional, state, and other local agencies. Leads interdepartmental collaboration efforts on land use and transportation. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees the development multimodal transportation solutions through the implementation of Aurora Places and more specifically the Connecting Aurora Transportation Master Plan. The team provides input, management, engagement and participation in the formulation of corridor studies and multi-modal transportation plans. Leads efforts to identify and apply for federal, state, and regional grants and their implementation and identifies projects that furthers the implementation priorities associated with Connecting Aurora and the Transportation Capital Improvement Program. Provides interdepartmental multi-modal coordination and serves as regional liaison. Provides a leadership role in association with the light rail service network; interchanges; transportation corridors; and transit improvements. Fosters relationships with City Council, airports, transportation authorities, the Denver Regional Council of Governments, CDOT. and RTD, etc. Ensures city leadership is informed of regional, state and national efforts. Supervises and mentors multi-modal transportation planners who serve as project managers for transportation/corridor planning, development review guidance and other transportation efforts. Develops a yearly work plan and fosters regional and interdepartmental relationships that further initiatives to obtain federal, state and local grants and implement Connecting Aurora. Supports Public Works and Planning & Business Development departmental leadership by facilitating and coordinating project reviews and concerns.  Serve as the City representative on external committees and working groups. Assist or lead process improvement projects and initiatives; manage multi-faceted projects, including policy plans, ordinances, annexations, and site development. Review and present projects and initiatives to TAPS, Planning Commission, and City Council. Make project assignments to staff and provide mentoring and support to staff. Ensure compliance with professional ethics standards and rules of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and the American Planning Association (APA). Responsible for tracking and managing on-time performance of staff, review staff work and reports, and provides performance evaluation. Supervises staff including scheduling, managing workloads and priorities, including professional development, discipline, and performance evaluations. Provides oversight and professional guidance to employees. Research, develop, and implement innovative transportation planning methods including plans, programs, and policies for auto, bicycle, pedestrian and transit infrastructure improvements.  Performs additional related duties as assigned.
