Scope of Work   The Youth Success Specialist Intern supports the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Youth Program by   assisting   in the delivery of academic, social-emotional, and enrichment services for refugee and immigrant youth through   10 weeks   mentorships and tutoring cohorts as well as field trips. The intern works closely with staff to help students build the skills needed to succeed in school and in their new community.    Reports To     Youth Success Specialist or Youth Services Coordinator   Learning Objectives    Learn about the refugee resettlement process in the U.S., and specifically in Maryland.    Learn about the school registration process for refugee students in local public schools.    Learn how to provide sensitive support to students, parents/guardians, and schools.   Responsibilities   Assist   in the facilitation of virtual tutoring and mentoring sessions via Zoom.   Support outreach, scheduling, and communication with youth participants and volunteer mentors/tutors   Monitor virtual sessions to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all participants   Help develop and share educational resources, activities, and content aligned with program goals   Track attendance and   assist   with basic data entry and documentation for program evaluation   Collaborate with the Youth Success Specialist to   identify   and respond to the needs of youth participants   Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures   regarding   youth safety and conduct   Qualifications   Prior experience and/or interest working with refugees and immigrants preferred.   Prior experience and/or interest in case management, social work or education preferred.   Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced and global environment.   Flexible and reliable, with outstanding attention to detail.   Strong problem-solving skills.   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.   Proficient   in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Zoom and Canva).   Fluency in English   required . Bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is desired.   Valid driver’s license, reliable access to a vehicle with current insurance and the ability to travel regularly throughout Baltimore strongly preferred   Availability on  Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM  is   required   Position Details     IN-PERSON:  Fall   2026 internships will be hybrid. This includes a combination of standard office environment, remote work, and field time within the greater Baltimore area.    DATES: Internships start with a required orientation on Monday, September 14 th   (approx. 9:30 AM – 3 PM). Regular weekly hours start the week of September 14 th , 2026, and will continue through December 18 th , 2026 (14 total weeks).    HOURS: Internships require a minimum of 15 hours per week for  14 weeks . Interns should be able to come to the office at least 3 days per week.    LAPTOP: Interns will be issued an IRC laptop for the duration of the internship to perform both remote and in-office responsibilities.     REIMBURSEMENT: Internships with the IRC in Baltimore are unpaid. University credit may be arranged.   Fall   2026 interns are eligible for per diem reimbursement at the rate of $15 per day (defined as 7.5 hours) to offset the costs of food and travel of the internship. Interns may also be reimbursed for mileage driven for any approved activities (based on round-trip mileage from the IRC office).      Application Process    DUE DATE:  apply   online at  careers.rescue.org  by 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, August 30 th .    INTERVIEWS: Applicants selected for interviews will be contacted to schedule interviews beginning August 2026.   Due to the volume of applications, only applicants who are selected for interviews will be contacted.
