Assistant Director   Hillel Campus Name Role Overview The Assistant Director (AD) serves as the Executive Director’s (ED) strategic partner in advancing the vision and growth of Hillel at Davis and Sacramento. As a senior leader, the AD helps translate vision into action, ensuring Jewish student life across both UC Davis and CSU Sacramento are vibrant, inclusive, and  relationship driven.   The AD oversees student engagement, programming strategy, and leadership development, supervising and mentoring staff while empowering students to take ownership of Jewish life on campus. Through strategic planning, data-informed decision-making, and a commitment to building meaningful community, the AD strengthens both the breadth and depth of student engagement and cultivates a collaborative, high-performing  team  culture.   What You’ll Do Collaborate with the ED to craft, implement, and evaluate Hillel’s programmatic vision and comprehensive engagement strategy across  the  Davis and Sacramento  region .   Supervise, guide, and support  programming team  members,  leading weekly  programming  team meetings,  providing  weekly  1:1  check-ins , clear goal setting, professional development, and accountability to ensure a high-performing and collaborative team culture. These staff members include the Engagement Associate (EA), Israel Fellow (IF), and Springboard Fellow (SF).   Oversee Hillel’s student engagement strategy, ensuring relationship-based engagement practices are implemented consistently and effectively across the organization.   Lead all  HEaRT  and student data management processes, including tracking breadth and depth, running reports,  maintaining  data integrity, and using metrics to inform strategy and  demonstrate  impact.   Develop, supervise, and continuously strengthen Hillel’s internship program, creating meaningful leadership pathways and skill-building opportunities for the student interns.   Advise and support Hillel’s Student Board  and Jewish Student Union  through skills-based training, leadership development, goal setting, feedback processes, and retreat facilitation.   Manage Hillel’s master programming calendar, ensuring strategic alignment with the Jewish and campus calendars, thoughtful sequencing of initiatives, and cross-team coordination.   Meet regularly with students for one-on-one engagement, mentorship, and leadership development, while  identifying  emerging leaders and new opportunities for connection.   Cultivate and  maintain  partnerships with campus administrators, student leaders, and community organizations to strengthen Hillel’s presence and impact.   Guide and support Jewish student clubs affiliated with Hillel, helping them align with broader engagement goals and access resources.   Partner with the ED and Development  Director  (D D ) to secure grants, steward funding opportunities, and articulate Hillel’s impact through storytelling and reporting to students, alumni, parents, and community stakeholders.   Staff and support immersive experiences such as Birthright Israel and Perspectives, including recruitment strategy, pre- and post-trip engagement, and alumni follow-up.   Encourage and model a pluralistic approach to Jewish life through meaningful Shabbat and holiday observances and innovative program development.   Continuously generate creative, student-centered program ideas that respond to campus climate, student interests, and emerging needs.   On a day to day basis you will Facilitate weekly 1:1 supervision  meetings  with full-time staff, provide coaching and accountability, and plan staff retreats and professional development opportunities in collaboration with the ED.   Lead staff hiring processes, onboarding, and  training for  engagement and programming roles, ensuring clear expectations and alignment with Hillel’s strategic goals.   Maintain current job descriptions and organizational  chart , reviewing annually with the ED and staff to ensure clarity, growth, and alignment.   Oversee and manage all  HEaRT  and engagement data systems, ensuring  timely  data entry,  accurate  reporting, and strategic use of breadth and depth metrics to inform outreach and programming decisions.   Monitor and align the master programming calendar and staff calendar, ensuring thoughtful sequencing of initiatives across campuses and strong coordination between staff and student leaders.   Partner with the Operations Director (OD) to  monitor  program budgets and expenses, supporting staff and student leaders in developing responsible, mission-aligned program budgets.   Meet regularly with students for  1:1  engagement, mentorship, and leadership development, using relationship-based engagement practices to deepen connection and impact.   Supervise and strengthen the Hillel internship program, providing guidance, feedback, and leadership development for student interns.   Support the ED and D D  in fundraising efforts, including donor stewardship, impact storytelling, grant reporting, and  special events .   Oversee digital engagement strategy in partnership with staff, ensuring Hillel’s website, social media, and communications reflect organizational priorities and  brand .   Be present at key Hillel and university programs, using these moments to build relationships with students, campus partners, and community stakeholders.   Coordinate ongoing Jewish learning and leadership initiatives that build community, strengthen Jewish identity, and empower students to create meaningful Jewish experiences.   Actively infuse Jewish life, pluralism, and values into all engagement, programming, and leadership opportunities.   Generate and refine innovative, student-centered program ideas that respond to campus climate, emerging needs, and strategic growth goals.   What You’ll Bring to the Job Earned a  Bachelor’s  degree and bring 5+ years of relevant professiona
