Automotive Test Cell Operator - Weekends

The Automotive Test Cell Operator is responsible for operating and supporting dynamometer test cells for propulsion and driveline systems. This includes working with dynamometer control software to integrate customer test requests, performing test equipment calibrations, and executing troubleshooting efforts on test cell equipment. This role requires the ability to successfully manage tasks and assignments in multiple areas. Initiative and ownership of responsibilities are critical to the success of this individual. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operating and supporting dynamometer testing in-house developed dynamometer control software; this includes configuring channel setups and writing automated test scripts among many other items  Translating documents and conversations from customers to fully functional dynamometer test  Troubleshooting of testing systems and customer product issues  Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to create concepts and deliverables used to efficiently complete customer test requests and internal projects  Setting up small scale testing equipment including analog sensors, electrical instruments, cooling systems, and other customer driven requirements   Electrical wiring of internal and external sensors to our data acquisition system and our industrial drive systems  Calibrating testing equipment such as torque meters, pressure sensors, and flow meters  Test cell operators will not be responsible for any opinions or interpretations of our customer data Assists in supporting the UTAC culture and values (Integrity, Expertise, and Innovation) Performs other duties as assigned Education and Skill Requirements: 3+ years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry required Fluency in the English language is required Strong problem solving, strategic thinking and analytical skills required Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job Demonstrated interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers, and suppliers Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications and the ability to become proficient in any systems that we use (Concur, Kronos, etc.) Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area Working knowledge of the automotive industry preferred Experience in the vehicle testing and validation industry preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills required Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills Able to function as part of a team, with members of varying job levels, and work cooperatively toward team goals Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for traveling between multiple work sites as needed Valid passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed Required on-site work: this role is not eligible to participate in the remote work policy Give and accept instructions and tasks in a positive manner, treating all co-workers with dignity and respect Consistently adhere to, and support all UTAC policies, procedures, and safety regulations Strong attention to detail required Exceptional work ethic and positive attitude required Self-starter, who can multi-task and possess strong communication skills Physical Requirements: Exposure to industry accepted chemicals and noise Regularly required to stand, reach, bend and move about the facility Able to lift and/or move materials as needed in the performance of assigned duties Requirements include, but are not limited to stand, walk, sit, twist, bend, lift, see, speak, hear May require occasional travel (locally, nationally, internationally) For you, as a potential UTAC team member, we believe that the international and diverse nature of our business combined with the passion, energy and friendliness of our people create a great place to work.
