Performance Team handles end-to-end warehousing and distribution logistics needs utilizing our strategic network of storage facilities. Our facilities are capable of receiving, storing, processing and dispatching cargo, so we can build flexibility and resilience into the supply chain process. Our integrated solutions allow us to be prepared for supply chain risks, so we can plan distribution to better achieve lead time and goals despite unexpected conditions. Shift: Mon-Fri 12pm-8:30pm
Summary: Responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the safety and health components of personnel, materials, equipment and environments to create a safe workplace and to minimize operational losses, accidents and injuries.
Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Monitor and track the effectiveness of Safety Programs within assigned facilities.
Remain current with relevant regulatory requirements, serve as a subject matter expert, and make changes to SOPs when necessary.
Conduct accident and claim investigations and evaluate risk management claims information to identify significant hazards and loss trends; identify root causes and recommend preventive measures and corrective actions; administer a return to work program.
Conduct audits and inspections to detect existing or potential health and safety hazards; identify risk behaviors; determine corrective or preventative measures needed; complete reports and follow up to ensure compliance.
Administer the powered industrial truck operator certification program, along with ensuring that all PITs are in safe operating condition.
Administer the hazardous materials and environmental management programs, to include EPA regulations and green initiatives.
Assist managers and safety personnel in promoting more safety awareness and education by procurement of safety training materials and information via monthly phone conversations, emails, weekly safety topics, safety articles, newsletters, etc.
Continue to create and make progress towards safety culture through training, increased awareness, risk assessments, and behavior modification programs. Consider new approaches such as Lean Based safety, websites, safety fairs, training, assessments, poster programs, incentives, etc.
Develop employee wellness programs, increase health education, and utilize physical exercise such as stretching exercises on the dock prior to the start of a shift.
Ensure the long-term sustainability of safety compliance and the culture of start-up operations.
Build and manage a budget for the Health and Safety Program.
Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and various safety documentation, files and records.
Share best practice information among all facilities.
Act as an onsite liaison to all applicable governmental agencies, regulators, insurance companies, medical clinics, temporary agency labor providers and vendors (including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, facility improvement contractors, etc). Host meetings as necessary.
Prepare, analyze, and distribute safety metric reports.
Benchmark our safety program and practices against other companies and industry leaders, and always strive to continuously improve.
Develop, coordinate, implement and monitor safety policies, procedures, guidelines and training programs to ensure compliance with regulations to reduce accident and associated costs.
Assist in establishing and communicating company safety values, goals and initiatives, and methods for measuring the effectiveness of safety programs.
Verify forklift inspections are being done
Ensure PUSH observations are completed
Identify & correct unsafe conditions and behaviors
Hold Safety Committee meetings
Ensure R & M & inspection sheets for MHE are being filed by unit.
Fire extinguishers inspections and signed off
Conduct self audit\inspection
Conduct employee training
Update the Safety Manual\Safety Board
Injury/incident Root Cause investigation reporting
Position is full-time and on-site.

Knowledge of federal, state and local OSHA regulations
Planning and organizational skills
Exposure to Hazmat environments and the nuances of HAZ facilities
Detail oriented and a team player
Experience and knowledge in tracking incidents and injuries
MS Office product experience
Spanish speaking a PLUS
Minimum 3 years of safety experience within a relevant industry
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Range:
$80,000 - $90,000
*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
