Since 2012, we've grown to become one of the leading single-family rental companies and homebuilders in the country, recently recognized as a top employer by Fortune and Great Place To Work®.  At AMH, our goal is to simplify the experience of leasing a home through professional management and maintenance support, so our residents can focus on what really matters to them, wherever they are in life.  The Real Estate Transactions Paralegal supports and drives complex, high-volume real estate transactions by applying legal judgment, due diligence principles, and proactive issue resolution for a nationwide owner-operator of single-family rental homes. Reviews title and HOA governing documents and resolves title defects, liens, and other closing blockers to support clean, insurable title and timely closings across the portfolio. Responsibilities: Drives the residential acquisition closing process for assigned market(s) from contract execution through closing and post-close completion. Coordinates with closing counsel, escrow/title companies, and brokers; manages deadlines and deliverables; and reviews, quality-checks, and compiles title, HOA, and closing documents required to close on schedule and meet internal transaction standards. Partners with the Acquisitions/Dispositions team, Legal, and Asset Management to escalate risks and drive issues to resolution. Performs due diligence review and file control. Reviews title commitments, exceptions, requirements, and recorded documents; confirms required supporting documents are obtained; and maintains complete, organized, audit-ready transaction files aligned to internal controls and naming/filing standards. Drives curative resolution to deliver clean, insurable title. Coordinates payoffs, releases, satisfactions, corrective instruments, and other requirements needed to clear liens, defects, and closing blockers; tracks open items through resolution; and escalates high-risk issues to Legal and transaction leadership. Reviews HOA governing documents for leasing and occupancy restrictions and identifies requirements that impact rental operations (e.g., rental caps, approval processes, fees/fines, occupancy rules). Monitors HOA updates when applicable and flags changes with potential legal/operational impact to internal stakeholders. Participates in transaction and pipeline meetings with Acquisitions/Dispositions, Asset Management, and Legal. Provides clear status updates, identifies recurring issues, and implements process improvements that reduce cycle time and rework. Follows all organizational systems, programs, training, policies, and procedures as required and complies with relevant legal mandates. Seeks guidance as necessary. Actively supports and participates in the safety program, both for self-protection and the protection of other employees, by reading and abiding by all requirements in the Safety Manual and Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP). Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner. Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner. Handles various other duties as delegated by senior paralegals and the Vice President – Real Estate Transactions. Requirements: High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience in a law firm or corporate legal department. 3+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department, with demonstrated ability to manage complex matters, apply legal concepts, and learn new substantive areas quickly. Experience with residential real estate transactions, title review, escrow coordination, or closing processes is a strong plus but not required. Paralegal certificate preferred; will consider equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. Experience with contract review and transaction correspondence; light drafting exposure a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Active Notary Public preferred. Strong written and verbal communication; summarizes issues, risks, and next steps clearly. Strong organization and follow-through in a deadline-driven, multi-transaction pipeline. Manages assignments independently with minimal supervision, while coordinating across internal teams and external escrow/title partners to drive issues to resolution. Maintains confidentiality and exercises good judgment with sensitive information. Applies strong critical thinking to identify risk, connect issues across documents, and determine the right path to resolution. Demonstrates ownership in developing familiarity with new legal concepts and transaction requirements as needed to support assigned transactions. Anticipates closing blockers, clarifies requirements early, and proactively advances solutions. Uses sound judgment to prioritize work based on deal risk, timeline impact, and portfolio needs; escalates with clear options and recommendations. Proactively communicates status, risks, and dependencies; keeps stakeholders aligned and reduces last-minute surprises. Continuous-improvement mindset; identifies recurring issues and supports process changes that reduce cycle time and rework. Detail-oriented with practical prioritization; escalates risks appropriately. Ability to adapt and flex in a changing environment. Compensation The anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $38.54 to $48.16 Hourly. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience. Additional Compensation This position is not bonus-eligible.   This position is eligible to receive discretionary stock.
